Hmm...I dunno if I posted these pictures correctly...hopefully it works. :)

Which princess shape diamond's IS image is better? And what are the faults with both diamonds?

Thanks!

I definitely prefer #1. The dark ring around the table of #2 does not bode well for light performance.

I agree, however, I''d like to see the ASET on 1. Is that possible?

Hi Ellen.

I think edman was going through Union Diamond and they just have a handheld ASET. Barbara helped on his previous thread, stating that they haven't had much luck taking pictures through that so just use it in house. (edman, feel free to correct if I am wrong)

Hi you!

Ok, I see. Thanks for the heads up.

You are correct, Jet. Barbara from Union Diamond said that they only use ASET in house.

So it seems that you guys agree that the first one is better. The price on that diamond with PS discount from Union Diamond is $4418 by wire or $4623 by credit card. Do you guys think it''s a decent price for the quality of the diamond? (I know it''s somewhat hard to tell just based off IS images and pictures). Or do you think I can do better?

Here are the specs for it:

And yet another...sorry, I tried pasting all the pics into one post but for some reason I can''t get it to work...

From the first two pics where there is less obstruction showing, it looks like it would probably be a pretty diamond. And yes, I think the price is fair.

Ditto. The first picture shows really nice patterning. Even the third pic with the obstruction leads me to believe it will be a lively little sucker.

Looks good to me too.

Any advice as to whether this diamond from Good Old Gold may be better cut and show more brilliance/fire than diamond #1 above?

Thanks!

You are comparing a 3 chevron (GOG) to a 4 chevron (UD) cut stone. Download the gemadvisor file and play with the simulation to see if you like it.

Sorry, how do I do this?

Also, Union Diamond has provided an ASET image of diamond #1. They only have a handheld ASET viewer so they had to take a picture of the image so keep in mind that this ASET is not completely accurate and has more white from reflection. That being said, is it still possible for you kind experts out there to form an opinion on this diamond''s brilliance?

Thanks.

They are both really well cut stones, edman. The ASET on the UD diamond is very good. The 3 chevron GOG vs the 4 chevron UD will have slightly different personalities, but you are not going to go wrong on either. Other considerations you might want to take into account are whether one of the vendors has a setting you like better and overall retail policies (return, buy back, trade-in). That may tip the scale one direction or the other, but you have two very reputable vendors and two great stones to pick from.

EDT: Here is a video comparing a 2 chevron princess to a 3 chevron that shows the differing personalities. The same principles would apply going from 3 to 4. It might help you decide (or may just make the decision harder
