Is anyone else sad flannel is making a come-back?

Seriously, we just had to suffer through a return of the worst 80''s fashions, and now the biggest fashion flop of the 90''s is back.

Flannel shirts can be super cute layered over leggings/boots/thin sweaters, with a down vest or jean jacket for apres-ski or fall hayrides, MAYBE going to class. I''m 32 and won''t be reviving this trend in my wardrobe but it does look cutesie on co-eds. For me, it''s preppy vs. grungy, and preppy has always won in my book. I see flannels on other kids wearing their dad''s old buffalo-check flannels and they look grungy rather than neat/classic/pulled-together. Blech.

I am not thrilled with it either. I am all for plaids worn correctly, but flannel? Flannel jammy pants ok, but not shirts.

I don''t mind the flannel that''s out now - they have much more shape than the grunge ones I used to borrow from my dad back in the day lol.

I guess I''m the only one who''s excited. When I started college back in 1993, my wardrobe was almost entirely stocked with flannels, so they remind me of happy times, I guess.

i have been around a long time and flannel has always been there. it may take periods of being trendy but it is a classic that has been a staple for fall and winter for as long as i can remember.

being a practical woman, i like practical fabric. flannel is practical, i like flannel. but there are different weights of flannel for different purposes and as long as those differences are recognized, i''m not going to complain.

I''ve seen girls make Uggs look very cute and understated. Then there''s the wifebeater, jean daisy-dukes and Uggs look. Not so classy. Same with leggings. A nice cotton legging under a cute, flattering dress = ok. Leggings as pants = NEVER OK.

Yup..I had flannel overload in Boston in mid 90''s. Personally not a fan though...every guy had flannel shirt and baseball cap pulled low!

i think flannel is cute if it''s pulled off right. However, it looks horrid on me. maybe because i''m petite and I tend to get eaten by all-over pattern.

I will never give up my flannel sheets--NEVER!

Oh wait, we''re talking about clothes...never mind...

On the one hand: sad we''re not making our own trends.

On the other hand, grunge is SO much better than the fluorescent nightmare that we''re all just been through, I don''t even have the words. GO, NINETIES!

P.S. - We all know this means the rebirth of Goth is, like, minutes away, right? Just so we''re all on the same page?

It never went away for the outdoors people and sportsmen and women.
It is classic and practical.
It is just when it went mainstream that is was bleh.
If one has never seen a live fish that wasn't in a fish tank then they haven't earned the flannel.

Living in Seattle in the early 90s, I saw many grunge bands during that time and so, I''m ENTIRELY over that scene and attire.

My son did get a pair of flannel PJs that I found on sale the other day and he LOVES them. That''s as far as flannel will go in our household.

Hmm, didn''t know it was making a comeback, but then again it is still in the 90s here. I don''t expect it to make a return here in FL

Being from the Great White North, I rather enjoy looking like Paul Bunyan on occasion...minus the Big Blue Ox...I have a fiance instead

Circe, isn''t it already making a comeback with all the twilight crap?

The flannel I wore in the 90s was boxy, too big and could have been my Uncle''s shirt.
The flannel I wear today is cinched at the waist, bright colored, three quarter sleeves and a crisper fabric.

Oooh, yes. Check out the Norstrom website. Get this. Brass Plum has an entire line dedicated to the movie "New Moon," or whatever it is called. I found the cutest jacket but found a 3" X 3" tag on the *outside* with the movie name on it. What a bummer. . .I would have bought it otherwise.

Oh, it's already here in Seattle. I went to the Alderwood mall the other day and was vaguely horrified to see, well, *my wardrobe* displayed in all the windows of the trendy stores. Black bustiers, poofy black lace skirts with many layers (adore!), fitted black corsety jackets- oh yes. I will be doing some shopping this winter. It's been years since I could buy in mainstream stores! On the other hand, I will be vaguely horrified at being "stylish" for a season or so- that never happens, lol

Flannel is good to see back. I hated the '80s stuff that was infesting stores lately, and I have always liked flannels on guys- I went to HS & college in the '90s in Seattle. My husband had, like, hundreds when I met him in 1996- his parents owned an outlet mall that had a store that sold flannel shirts, so he got them for free. I never wore them myself, I was too busy wearing black.

hahaha I was at Alderwood yesterday, but didn''t notice the window displays because I was trying to get in and out as quickly as possible. Helzberg sent me a coupon for a free pair of pearl earrings and I went and go those "with no strings attached," yet the sales gal had me trying on pearl necklaces for 1/2 hour. I''m NOT a pearl person at all, so I had to pretend all the stuff she showed me was my thing. Now I''m not sure what to do with the earrings. I did wear them yesterday and my kids told me they don''t look like real pearls! lol

Funny! I ended up with some pearl earrings in a similar way, and never wore them. I gave them to a co-worker. Yeah, Alderwood was a horrifying zoo- if MAC O lipstick wasn't so essential to my life I wouldn't have braved it. It was like the really trendy-young-girl stores that had the Goth stuff, like Forever 21 and stuff. Places I would be lucky to fit a L at a size 14/16!

ETA: And having to feign interest in a sales pitch for a half hour? You *definitely* earned those earrings!

As I was driving home, I was contemplating selling the pearls on eBay however I found an identical pair with an auction that was ending in 4 hours and they went for $5.99. lol Later when I get a chance, I''ll post them in the pearl section. They''re a weird shape. . .buttonish like rather than round. I''m thinking the outer coating will chip off after I wear them a few times.

Didn''t look into the Forever-21 window as I''ve never shopped in there. I''m not 21 anymore. lol Will look next time. The mall is so shiny that I get over stimulated and so I tunnel vision to the stores I''m wanting to shop at. Kind of have "my rounds," where I go to the same stores EVERY time. . .

I love flannel because it reminds me of my dad. But I don''t wear it outside the house!

I hate leggings as pants! THEY''RE NOT PANTS! i allways feel a little sick when I see girls doing this.

Ok, I don''t understand what is wrong with leggings as pants. And I''m talking about leggings (thick) not TIGHTS. We''ve seen the Juicy velour pants, yoga pants, sweats, you name it, but leggings are gross? I don''t get it. If you have the body for them I think they are flattering and fun with boots, flats, or heels and an awesome top.
