Should i worry about a H colour diamond that scored a 0.9 on holloway cut adviser. Would it be noticeable? Im totally new to this. Diamonds are like women, so complicated but beautiful. lucky this forum is available for newbies like me.

If it's round and under 3-5ct. you probably won't notice the color in the stone by itself...in a side-by-side, face up comparison you may compared to D/E/F...pavilon up, sure, but who cares about that.

You might have to see it yourself in person - even with a great cut everyone''s sensitivity to color is different, although I have seen some ''Js'' on PS that are ideally cut and face up icy-white and gorgeous.

As Gary indicated - if you compared it to a colorless diamond you might notice it - but once it''s mounted you probably won''t notice any color in the diamond.

Hi,
I have an I (according to AGS) ACA. Sometimes, it looks white-white to me. Sometimes, it looks a wee bit warm. My friends tell me that it looks white-white. Maybe they''re just being nice or maybe I''m just being Type-A.

I agree with Diamond Expert. I own a diamond that GIA certified as an H 13 years ago, but another has certified as a G. It looks totally white to anyone who sees it. You really have to turn a diamond upside down and look at it against white paper, and then also compare it to a whiter graded diamond in order to see a color difference. But your wife will wear her diamond right side up and in a ring, so I wouldn''t worry about it at all. H diamonds are beautiful diamonds.

If it''s a well cut diamond, it may look pretty white. go with what you like, some like the warmer stones

I found this pic from a web site a while ago when i first started to search for a diamond for an Ering (bout a year go).
I know its best to see a diamond in real life than a picture (Hard to find time to do so), or trust what the online vendors say.
Not sure if im colour sensitive, but i can see some warm tones on some diamonds from G to J before until i stumbled in to online vendors. May be its just the lighting and photo that makes it look whiter on the internet pics.
I heard that some pics makes the diamond look more warm than it actually is. But the pic shows the H diamond pretty white. I guess if its mounted the right way up i''ll be colourles.

Marz, to start with its really near impossible to judge colour on a computer monitor - probably every person reading this will see the picture with varying degrees of colour - both due their monitors and own perceptions.

That said, I think you''ve answered your own query where I''ve highlighted - once its mounted you will Never see the diamond this way, so its pretty much irrelevant. Diamonds are graded by the labs face up, and sold accordingly, so there''s no need really for consumers to do otherwise.

As my fave vendor once said to me "Women haven''t yet started to mount their diamonds in rings with the pointy culet facing up - maybe they''ll change it for the divorce though!"
(terrible memory so sorry if I misquoted you and you''re reading Jon!! lol).

Personally, H is a "sweet spot" for myself, and I''m actually currently purchasing a K . H will be white, but even the "warmer" colours have alot of appeal to many people.**

**(disclaimer: with regards to properly graded well cut stones).

I own a GIA pear that was graded ''J'' in color. It looks white, white, white to me! I''m not really color sensitive although in some lights I occasionally spot a warm undertone to it. It also has faint fluorescence which helps. Whenever I am at my kids'' school and under the fluorsecent lighting, it might as well be a D for all my eyes can tell!

The stone you''re considering scores well enough on the HCA (under 2.0) that it would appear to be a well-cut stone, so H should face up plenty white. I have a 1.24 H and I never see body color in it.

Better makes mask color better, so your H with these parameters should be lovely!
