Hey Everyone,

I was browsing the internet yet again for engagement settings (I know, I''ve gotten obsessed with searching

). Anyway, I was checking out whiteflash and they have this really nice design by Le

. It''s a full pave setting in Plat. Has anyone here have a ring similar to this? Would a .80 carat diamond be too small for the center? I''m under the impression that you would mount larger diamonds on such settings. I''m really attracted to this setting because of the competitive price and carat weight of the setting (Only $1750, not bad). The diamonds from the pictures also look like good quality and should compliment the H&A diamond I picked out a while ago. Let me know what your opinions are. Here''s the pic:

Some people will say it's too "busy" and the setting would overwhelm the diamond, but I think it will look LOVELY. Here a link to one with a 1.10 round.

Hm... isn't the pic on DT the same one from WF's site ? Anyway, one could just wish that the size of those settings be listed along. Judging from the size of the diamons set in pave (those are the only objects of known size in the picture!) the band should be at most 6mm wide - meaning a little less wide than a 0.8cts RBC.

If you go to page 2 of the thread, the owner of the ring has taken his own pictures.

Silly me ! It shows this is the 2nd time I open DT! from the pictures there, the band appears quite narrow - around 4mm perhaps. I would have thougth it is wider - given there is no indication of size on Whiteflash

From the comparison, the picture presenting the setting model on WF seems to comtain a diamnd less than 1ct - it could well be exactly what your prospective ring will turn out like.

Crazy ?

No not crazy, I would have guessed 6mm as well, not knowing size of pavee. If they are 0.005, then 4mm is possible. As you said, best thing is to call and ask. Also, they can always custom make you a narrower one.

Ask for a price.

Is it not possible to take something liek a 2mm band and pave it?

I checked out pictures of that diamond setting from that link. That ring is bling!!! It's good to hear that the guy had a good experience working with both Superbcert and Whiteflash. If I got this setting, I would be working with the same two companies since I got the diamond from Superbcert and this setting is sold by Whiteflash.

I have a SuperbCert stone and this Whiteflash setting is my favorite setting out there, so you have great taste!

I'd give Whiteflash a call and ask them how wide the band is. Your stone would probably be perfect in it.

Hey Patty,

Could you PM about how you where able to send the diamond off to whiteflash. I would like to make sure that the diamond gets there safely and I have bot much of a clue on how to ship a diamond. Barry still has the diamond in his vault per my request because I'll be moving to Arizona the first week of August. I could just have him ship the diamond to me so I can look at it and appaise it locally and then ship it off or I could have him send it directly to whiteflash.

I'm sorry to confuse you! I did NOT go with that setting. My diamond was put into the 3 stone ring that is my avatar picture and it was done by Vatche via Barry.

I'm sure that Whiteflash can tell you how to go about getting the stone to them.

Good luck!

This is interesting because when I called WhiteFlash about a mounting that was designed by one of their jewelers, they said they could not mail it to me that I would have to ship the diamond to them and let the designer mount it. I thought this was sort of strange..why would they ship your Vatche mounting but not the one I want?

I called Whiteflash last week, but my cellphone reception was bad. I left them my phone # and they said they would call. Still no call. I e-mailed them last Friday, but I still haven't gotten a response. Are they are vacation or something? I've also noticed that diamond is not centered. The arrows pattern shows off angle. Isn't the diamond arrows supposed to line up in a certain way when mounted? Just wondering. I know my girlfriend is extremely detailed oriented, being an artist. She would notice something like that off the bat.

Isn't a mounted diamond's arrows line up like this?

Sorry for the weird picture, but I don't really know how esle to explain it

Ame: Michael B makes a beautiful 2mm pave ring.

actually that MB ring is closer to 1.5mm than 2mm I think.

you can definitely have a 2mm custom pave ring made for the same if not less than the 1700 of that wide band.

personally my preference is not for a wide band the same or near diameter to the stone, i like the stone to stand out more with the ring as an accent. i would always go thinner band over thicker. but what is your girlfriend's preference??

pave bands are not hard to find at all nowadays, they are very popular. if you can't find a style you adore, have it done custom.

by the way, whiteflash DOES do custom and for a nice price. i had them do my wedding ring at 2.3mm with prong set eternity melee (similar to pave) and loved the results.

good luck!

From what I know, she either likes really elegant pieces like that Le setting or simple clean pieces like a Tiffany setting or Vatche X-prong with channel. She's an artist and leans towards jewelry that looks like an expression of art. A good example would be Cartier's Meli Melo which looks more like an art piece rather than jewlery.(and also way too expensive for me). She's into fancy shaped diamonds like pears, but I went with a round because of its brilliance. I guess another good style would be something like a Ritani Endless Love, but I doubt I would be able to afford seeing that I spent most of my money on the diamond itself.

It seems that she would prefer a thinner setting, unless the ring is paved like this one or styled uniquely like a Meli Melo.

Either way though, I'm limited in the ring setting. I'd be able to spend at most $1800 on the setting

According to Pearlman's, the MB Princess is 2mm. Perhaps the Petite Princess is 1.5mm. I'll check when mine gets to me.

Hello again,

I e-mailed whiteflash about the ring a while ago, but still haven't gotten a response. There seems to be only one type of matching wedding band on whiteflash's site, but does anyone know if a standard band would match this setting. Just wondering because the matching band is pretty expensive and if a standard band could work, I could get the setting. Seems to be the problem with a lot of the settings that I know she would like. I could afford the setting and diamond, but the wedding bands keep me out of it.

Thanks
