Is A 53% Table Too Small?

Hi Everyone,

I am looking to upgrade my diamond and came across a contender that has a 53% table. I have noticed PSers mentioning they like small tables, but can't find any info on a table that small. Is it too small? The stone has a passing HCA score, so I am guessing all numbers combined add up to a ok stone. I just don't know what to think about that very small table - is it a plus or minus?

Thanks in advance!

Personal preference if all the other angles work in concert with the table.

Hi 2Neezers :wavey:

I've never seen a table that small, but I'm intrigued... I don't think it would be a negative. Please post a photo/link if you have one. :))

All the figures add up nicely. The picture looks good. Some graining not shown - I'd have that checked.

I think the HCA score reflects well, and if graded by AGS they plot puts you into their ideal parameters too. That tells me the table isn't 'too small'.

I think a more appropriate question would be, what character will a smaller tabled diamond display?

From what I have read I think they favour more fire over brilliance. The 34/40.8 is slightly towards the brilliant end of the TIC spectrum (opposed to 34.5/40.7). I think it would be a nice firey stone.

Thanks for the input KobiD!
It does sound like it has potential. After thinking about it, I am going to continue to look for something in my preferred color range.
This one is a great size, cut and clarity for the price, which made it hard to pass up though.
