Is a 1mm chain too thin for a .50 bezel pendant?

My jeweler suggest a 1mm cable chain for my 0.50 pendant. Do think that''s too thin?
 
I Just did a 3 mm for a .95 bezel. If you like the delicate look go with it. Personally I think I would prefer something a little bit more substantial.
