So I'm eyeing on this cushion diamond but it's only .45 in size and about 4.3x4.3 by measurement. I'm hesitating if it is too small if I just want a simple solitaire or single halo setting and use it as a pendant? What do you think? Any suggestion appreciated!
Oh shucks, its so hard to say. Its all relative. I am a broad sholderee,5'10" lady and I had purchased a .75 round before for a pendant and I felt like it was sooo small. And my e ring is just about that size, so not like I'm used to large diamonds.
Then I see people on here with bezeled .25 CTS and I think "this looks amazing!
It's a matter of how it looks on your body and what you expect it to look like (i.e. what look your going for)
I have a solitaire pendant on my list too. So my thinking process is, because i am always afraid of not looking right on me, I am going to have one with very thin bezel and i am thinking pear since they face up big. It's classic too because elizabeth taylor had one like it. But do agree with Niel other people it looks great on. Like my husband and I new favorite tv show the Arrow. two women on that show had round solitaires looked awesome, but my shoulders are broad so for me I am looking for face up big to maximize budget.
Depends on the look you are going for. I have two round diamond pendants, one is 1.o5 ct in a wider yellow gold bezel and the second is .35 ct in a simple white gold basket setting. Very different looks, each sparkles and flashes like mad and gets compliments.
If I was setting the second right now (and actually, I was talking to my local jeweler about a reset last weekend) I would look at a bezel setting, to make the most of the size and presence on the neck.
To be honest, I would never turn my nose up at a .45 cushion pendant. I think it would be a wonderful look on the neck!
