This might be a silly question, but what is the average time frame on when you should send out invites? And how far in advance should you ask for an RSVP?
I think invitations are normally sent out 8 weeks before the wedding (sometimes as late as 6 weeks). IMHO, a month in advance of the wedding is good for the reply-by date. Usually caterers need the final head count about 1 week before the wedding, so if you make the RSVP date about 4 weeks before the wedding, you''ll have a few weeks to contact those who did not send their RSVP card back on time.
Agreed, 6-8 weeks is the standard number. If you have a destination wedding involving significant travel, you can send them out a little earlier if you like (according to The Knot''s DW guide).
