Invisibly set settings...

Can the wires or whatever holds the small diamonds (made to look like a big one) be removed? There's a really pretty one in my size, but i want to gut out the wires so it'll hold a big gem in the middle instead. Is that possible?

This isn't the ring i like, but something like this.. w/ prongs instead of a bezel.
