Hi everyone.

I have a couple of quick questions regarding the inventory at the online vendors everyone seems to love so much. How often do GOG and WF update their H&A inventory? Is there a specific time of year where they are likely to have more inventory on hand (i.e. Christmas)?

I see that WF has only I colors in their ACA (2 - 3 ct range) and GOG has had the same stones in that 2 - 3 ct range for some time now (none of these stones is exactly what I am looking for).

Thanks in advance!

They both periodically get new stones in. ACA''s are cut by WhiteFlash, and new stones usually come in around every 6 weeks or so. Both vendors can call in stones from diamond suppliers. When you want a type of stone that is not listed, you just call one vendor and tell them what you are looking for, and they will search the suppliers'' inventories and call in stones they think are good. So unless you are waiting specifically for an ACA, either vendor can look for what you want, but you need to call and tell them to look once you are ready to make a purchase.

With the larger carat weights, it can sometimes take a little time to find exactly what you want, so it is a good idea to tell your chosen vendor what you are looking for, and let them try to find you a diamond.

Wonderful. Thanks so much for the help.

Asking for a stone wouldn''t press the vendor into finding a diamond that isn''t up to their usual standards though, would it?

You tell them the standards!

If you want AGS0 or GIA EXcellent that has ideal light performance, tell them. Or if you want hearts and arrows only, tell them that, too!

As an aside, it is sort of my preference to buy ACA's from WF since that is their own branded cut, and other H&A stones from GOG.

Absolutely not with vendors such as these!! You have no worries there! Tell them what you want, and they will do their utmost to source you the right diamond.

I can''t imagine Jonathan at GOG ever selling anything that didn''t meet his (very strict) standards!

Shouldn''t be a problem - there are over 150 AGS0 stones ID/ID/ID between 2 and 3ct. available as of today.

Jon at GOG has told me upon questioning that he "updates his inventory as need be", but is happy to try to track down something if a customer wnats specific specs.

DG,
Thanks for asking this question. I am shopping for a center stone and have been visiting these sites a lot recently. In fact, some of the stones are becoming familiar...boy, I should add this to the thread someone started about "you know you are a PSer when..."
