Hi everyone, UPDATE here 6 months later! I am STILL thinking about changing the setting. BUT everyone I know says I shouldn't. I love how it allows u to see the entire diamond. I was thinking if anything I could put it in a cushioned halo setting that has elevated prongs above the halo. Do u think the diamond will be seen as it is now since it is separate from the halo???

no, definitely not. a setting where the diamond is slightly elevated from the halo will obscure most of the profile view unless you set the diamond very high?? and then I think it would just look awkward. i love your current setting!

I love the current setting too. But, if you've been thinking about it for six months, then perhaps talk to a jeweler about options?

OOOOOOOOOh I wouldn't touch that beautiful setting, If you remember when you first posted in the antiques forum I replied that I had one custom made which is very similar to yours ( but not quite as beautiful), it's an original and it's just gorgeous again I wouldn't touch it, but if it's because you want just a little more bling what do you think about adding some stones on the prongs like the picture I've attached here, remember if you do go through with it it's no longer an original.

clueless, your setting is equally pretty!!! I did talk to a jeweler but they said it's so old, they can't really alter the head.
Maybe I should keep this and get another new ring !!

Your ring is just perfect the way it is - I wouldn't change a thing! I think you were extremely fortunate to find such a ring.

What are you going to do for a wedding band? Maybe you could focus on a five stone band or some sort of right hand ring but I wouldn't change a thing about this ering! I'd just focus right now on a wedding band - when is the wedding?

I LOVE IT. I think the original setting is perfect, personally. It looks just perfect on your finger... just large enough with a feminine setting to set it off. Wear it in good health!

Thanks you guys. I appreciate it. So u dont think it looks small on me? Thats another reason to embellish it. But I sure don't want to ruin a perfectly good ring. When we got it I was definitely going to reset the stone, but then began to like the setting, how it shows the stone. It looked like a runway of diamonds leading up to the center stone. I just don't like the view from the top is all (plain). Also, that's a great idea to focus on a wedding band. I have one I can take a photo with it and attach later.

I agree with the others and wouldn't change a thing! It's gorgeous and I also think that you should concentrate on the perfect wedder now, that should spice it up and make it look less 'plain' to you when you look down at it. It's absolutely stunning! I'm on a mission to find an antique cushion and am finding it so frustrating! If I came across a ring as perfect as yours I would be jumping up and down and screaming AMEN! enjoy it, its stunning!
