I have a problem.

With increasing regularity I will click on a link in various PS threads and Explorer will crash on me. It''s not just Pricescope, happens at other sites too. Mr Gailey uses Google Chrome and swears by it, so I swapped my default browser. It''s great, no more crashing, but Pricescope looks completely different. Different fonts, different layouts and most irritating of all is that when people use the quote facility when replying to a post, it doesn''t show up in a shaded block like it does in Explorer. It makes stuff very difficult to read.

What I need is the familiarity of layout when using Explorer, coupled with the reliability of Chrome.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Gailey, I use Chrome most of the time and I love it! When you say the quote box doesn't show up, do you mean when you're trying to quote someone in your reply? If so, I don't think the shaded box actually shows up on any browser except Explorer -- I always have just the html markup in Firefox and Chrome. If you mean when you're reading the replies other people have left...I haven't ever noticed that, so I don't know what the problem would be. I've also never noticed that the layout and fonts look different in any substantial way, but it's been a long time since I used Explorer. I think you can change those things by going to the wrench button at the top right corner of the screen, clicking on "Options," and then choosing the "Under the Hood" tab. Scroll down to the area that says "Web Content" and click the "Change font and language settings" button. You can then change your fonts and font sizes. Maybe that will help?

Thanks Octavia, I will try and change the fonts if I can figure out what they are in Explorer first.

The missing shaded quote box, is not the only thing that is different. The toolbar that appears above the reply box (in Explorer) has way more buttons on it than with Chrome. I have done a couple of screen shots to demonstrate what I am seeing. First is Explorer.

Now the Chrome version. I like the Explorer version much better.

Yep, Gailey, that''s normal. I don''t know of any browsers other than Explorer that embed the html so you can see what it looks like when you post, rather than the html code. It''s also annoying because you have to learn the code in order to do things like highlight, change text color or size, etc. I don''t particularly like it, but I deal with it because I really dislike Explorer. Once you get used to it, it''s not as bad as it seems at first!

Did you download Explorer 8?

My husband uses Chrome as well and I''m loving it. Basic HTML isn''t too hard and I''m sure you''ll pick it up quite fast. You''re going to love it once you figure out thes ins and outs.

I manage another forum that doesn''t WYSIWYG either, and it took me a day or two to figure out how to do basic HTML....and I have zero coding background!

No Lulu, I have Internet Explorer 7. Is 8 better or worse than 7.

I really don''t know I can do the code thing. Old dog, new tricks you understand .....
