A very useful automated converting tool.
I thought that sizing could vary from vendor to vendor as well as between different countries and their conversion charts, and that it was supposed to be best to check your size with the specific vendor with which you are going to do business? Or is that overkill?

Handy link!

Gwen, not overkill at all. I did all of that and gave the required mm diameter and still a US vendor got it wrong! It is always a risk buying sight unseen and ring un-placed on the finger.

I don''t think it''s overkill at all. Always a good idea to double check!

Gwen, not overkill at all. I have a ring, measured in the US as between 7.25-7.5 and in the UK as O and a half. No ring size conversion chart has ever come up with the right conversions based on what the jewellers said that it was in both countries.

This converter show British O and 1/2 as US 7 1/4 so this pretty much agrees with what you were told. The level of accuracy of ring sizing is only with a tolerance of approximately 1/4 size. People''s fingers are not static in size anyway. Ring sticks and ring sample sets are far from carefully calibrated, too. You must expect discrepancies unless you go into a jeweler who has an in-house shop facility where you try it on as the ring is being re-sized in order to make it a perfect fit. No other way works so well.

You''re right! I typed in 7.5 because I rounded up, not down.

Apparently it is not meant to but I think it does. The chart in terms of converting is fairly accurate and definitely useful.

I am an Australian M 1/2 which is a US 6 1/4 and the size I sized up at Tiffany's (and am on the chart), 6.5 was too big and the 6 was a tich to small.

However when I got my e-ring from Leon for some reason he said it was a 6 (though the work order said to make it a 61/4 no biggy though) and it had to be resized up, so it got resized to a 6.5+ (my fingers were massively swollen at the time from flying and he wanted to size it to a 7 but I knew that it would have been too big so we comprised) but even though it is is technically bigger, it is smaller then my M 1/2 ring.

I think Delster found Leon's sizing a little on the smaller size as well.

My advice is to buy a cheapy ring that fits really well in the same thickness as the ring you want and send it off to your vendor :D

I tell everyone to go to Tiffany if they are buying from the USA and get measured there.

It''s the most accurate method I''ve found so far - they''re the only place in the UK that measures in US sizes and you can also get the width measurement which is very important when it comes to sizing.
