International Insurance?

I''m having trouble finding international insurance for my ring - is there any company OTHER than chubb?

I have no idea as to the answer, but we have missed you! How are you doing? Did you decide to leave your ring setting as is or did you try to get it changed to what you originally wanted?

I''m doing really well other than this impending move that has me pretty shaken up. As for my ring, it is beautiful... I will probably get it tweaked eventually but it''s not at the top of my to-do list. Maybe for my 20th or something. It still doesn''t look finished to me sometimes but there are times when I really appreciate the way it is too.

I need to get it insured for overseas or I''m going to have to lock it up for 3 years. Ugh! Even if I do get it insured I''m not sure I want to take it, I don''t know how it will be taken culturally. I''m going to ask next week when we get there.

HI Sara. I live in Germany and have insured my rings and watches through Hiscox which is somehow affiliated with Aon. I think they are out of the UK, but my husband was able to get ahold of someone who then handed our business to a local contact. They were able to add a rider to our household insurance.

I know this is a belated response but I''ve been out of the country.

Bee, how comfortable should I be wearing 2.7 carats around ireland? I''m not at all familiar with the crime there. I didn''t take my ring to china but what I found out about there is that there is non-violent theft, sneaky theft like pickpockets or if they can slip something off but that you wouldn''t get mugged. From what I recall reading on PS in times past, mainly from Maisie talking about e-rings in england, there are not a lot of stones this size either and I can only assume that would apply to ireland as well?

Hi Lorelei I''ve used touchstone for the past year and they let me know they don''t insure for living overseas. Since we will be maintaining a residence here they could get around that, but that sounds like a loophole and a risk I''m not willing to undertake.

It really depends on where you go in Ireland. I wouldn''t be worried about it getting stolen, I''d say you''d just have people starting at it a bit more. I work in a very affluent area in Dublin and most of the women wear huge stones there and are happy to do so. I think it''s like anywhere else in that there are places not to go at night, other than that, I really doubt you''ll have a problem. In town (Dublin city center) you will see stones of all sizes but people do stare. I''ve even felt a bit uncomfortable with my 1.23.
