An emerald that was appraised for thousands of dollars ended up selling for $8.00

Doesn''t that sound odd?

Are you kidding me????? an $8 emerald???? If I paid $8 for an emerald, I would be surprised if what I actually received was even glass!! It would more likely be a plastic emerald!!! What a joke. Some people are very niave!

Now, if this guy actually represented it as a REAL AUTHENTIC diamond that appraised for thousands, then he is definately in the wrong....but the guy who bought it couldn''t actually have expected much for that price!!

It might have been a no reserve auction that blew up in his face. It happens. But I agree that does sound odd.

The story is very odd.

Besides, smoky quartz is very inexpensive and very plentiful, so what led this person to believe that it wasn''t real?
