I came across this website today, it is a university study about trends in marriage and includes a lot of information about cohabitation and fears associated with marriage.

"..moving toward the weaker marriage systems of other societes?" Is that talking about civil unions and that letting homosexual couples have some form of marriage ''weakens'' it? Kinda sounds like it to me, which turns me off from the whole thing.

I didn''t read the entire site, but I don''t think that they are making any statements regarding civil unions and homosexual marriages. I think that the weakening that they are talking about is the fact that more people are forgoing marriage in favor of cohabitation, and that the ease in which a couple can get a divorce makes the institution less strong than it may have previously been.
