I think there was a CSI (or some other show) about dinner in the dark. Aside from the murder it looked awesome!

I would totally do this!!! Did it heighten your sense of taste or smell?
LOL!!! Yeah, murders at dinner are always such a bummer!

That would be terrifying I think. What if you had to go to the bathroom?!

I have heard about this and seriously wanted to try it out.

There is a theory that if you take away the visual stimulation of our food we actually eat less. ie Often we really are eating because the food looks so good!

I would love to know if you guys ate less because you werent looking at the food. Like did any of you leave heaps on your plates.....or you wouldnt have known anyway?

I would love to try something like that. I think it really opens others eyes (no pun intended) to how the blind have to live, and how it might also enhance other senses!

I wouldn''t feel comfortable putting something in my mouth I haven''t seen first. It has a certain ''yuck'' factor for me. I could only allow someone I trust to feed me something without me being able to see it.
Exactly the same for me, except that I wouldn''t even let someone I trust feed me anything I can''t see. My husband has tried to surprise me a few times by bringing home a cupcake or something of that sort, and he asks me to shut my eyes and open my mouth. I would flat out refuse to do it...even though I am 100% sure it wouldn''t be something I dislike. I just hate not knowing what''s going into my mouth!

Also, ILTW, I can''t believe you did the surprise dessert! I''d be having panic attacks before my first bite!! It does sound absolutely yummy though!

This sounds so interesting. I would love to experience it, but I think I would get food all over myself.

I wonder if the chefs still bother with good presentation when plating the food

hahha... yeah - I wouldn't know! I think they try and place the food in a certain way so it's easier to eat - like my appetizer was grilled portobello mushrooms and I noticed they were spread evenly across the plate. A friend of mine got the steak and they precut all the pieces for him! Lol.

Hah, that''s funny - I had no idea they had restaurants like this! My hubby and I ordered take-away from a fancy restaurant and ate in the pitch dark once (he was doing research for a short story he was writing). It was fun! He had lamb, but I was smarter and had the salmon. It was fun turning on the lights at the end and wondering what our meals had looked like before we ate them.

That sounds like a hoot! And yeah, the first thing that came to mind for me was also the episode of CSI that takes place in one of these restaurants.

Hmmm, wonder if London has any...?
Yes there is one in London - a friend of mine goes quite often. I keep meaning to.

It's called Dans le Noir?...
