I live in Norway and cannot put my diamond on homeowners insurance, does any one have a an affordable company to recommend? I am from the US and would like a US company.
I'm not sure whether this is helpful or not... Are you a U.S. citizen living abroad, yet maintaining a residence in the U.S. because if so, you might be able to add the item to your homeowner's insurance and still maintain coverage abroad because I know that the Marine Policy which I added to my State Farm policy to cover my photography equipment provides coverage outside the U.S. The key part of the policy for that purpose was the "marine" portion because without it, the equipment would not be covered outside the U.S.
I know that the Personal Articles Policy (PAP) which we purchased from State Farm to cover Valerie's jewelry provides coverage outside the U.S. as well...
No. I don''t have any homeowners in the US..no home there right now. (I use my parents address as my permanent residence for now) being that I only own a condo in Norway not the US. Anyone else have suggestions on insurance??
I''m getting a little old, to be putting things on my parents'' insurance plus I''d rather keep our engagement a surprise until the ring is on my finger which won''t be until January/February 2011. The reason I need to insure it now is that I am sending the diamond to a friend in the US and she will take it to a jeweler to be appraised and then send it back to Union to put in my custom ring. I don''t want my friend to be put in a bad situation if she looses the ring or it gets stolen.
Jewelers mutual will ensure it against loss/theft for one year for 50US. It is a bit much, but might be worth it for this year. It looks like within in a year we will be moving to the States anyway and by then I should have homeowners insurance, so it will cover me until then.
