Insurance Question?

i need to have my fiances engagement ring insured, does anyone recommend someone other than jewelers mutual?

i was told that jewelers mutual charges a very high premium for new york... roughly 2.5%

also, what should i choose as my premium? i really doubt it would get lost or stolen but who knows about damage... makes it a tough choice...

Jewelers Mutual has fairly low premiums and covers damage, loss, theft, "mysterious disappearance," etc. They seem pretty decent...I've been covered by them for a year, but thankfully nothing has happened to my ring, so I can't speak to how claims are handled. I know it's a replacement policy, whereas Chubb will cut you a check for the insured value of the ring, but Chubb has some kind of minimum dollar amount (I've heard 10k from some people and 15 from others).

ETA: I didn't see the "for New York" in your original post...so that's why they're high for you. In that case, just ignore my post.
