I have a 2.17 ct SI stone that I want to get enhanced. There''s a small black inclusion under the table. I''m thinking of sending it to Yehuda Diamonds to be enhanced. I went to the website but it didn''t state anything about insurance or what happens in the case a diamond breaks. Also, what are the odds of a diamond breaking in the enhancement process? Thanks

i believe there's many waivers you have to sign...that they're not responsible

look up woobug's marquise enhancement.

I also thought that Gar(r?)y (aka Diamond Expert) said you need to have a feather to do a Yehuda treatment.

I think so too Julie - if it is carbon or a dark inclusion lasering is the process to remove that I think

Yehuda only enhance for feathers to the best of my knowledge....

Regarding any enhancement process I think you have to take the loss if anything happens - same for a recut etc.

Read this thread, it will be helpful.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know anywhere I can get the black spot removed in the NYC area?

I called them and they said that they do treat black carbon spots, however that they''re not responsible if the diamond breaks.

I''m really considering getting it enhanced, but the only thing I''m really concerned about is the diamond breaking and losing a $5,000 stone. Are there any other companies that would have an insurance policy?

Er... bump.

Is there any way you could return the diamond? You''ll get lots of help picking out another...if you can.

is this the same stone you posted about for $3800 in another thread? in that one you said you were thinking of buying it but in here you say you have it?

Yup. Read his prior posts Mara. It''s all there....

I haven''t bought it yet, but I''m considering it.

but here you have it? and then you dont? which is it?

No, I don''t have the stone yet.

interesting

Laser treatment is the method used to remove black inclusions. It leaves a small tunnel from the surface t o the inclusion. If you don''t already own the stone, just pick another. If you do own the stone, I''d consider living with the inclusion over laser treatment but that is just one mans opinion.

Getting rid of the balck inclusion is not going to change the fact that it is a cloudy, lifeless stone that most people wouldn''t want. I''d rather wear a CZ than a terrible quality diamond. Then again, I''d rather wear a plain band than a CZ.
