Sorry that I made a new post because I don''t know how to change the subject line of a previous post. So you might see 2 posts of similar content. Sorry.
I recently ran into a problem while applying for a Chubb insurance through an out of state agent.
I''d like to find out
1. Can I insure my diamond ring for a value close but not the same as the appraised value on the appraisal?
(They changed the insured value from the application to the appraised value without my knowledge of it)
2. In addition to color, clarity, what are the crucial information to be stated on the policy, besides just attaching documents? Can I request the description to at least include GIA number? (the agent told me it''s not necessary because they will have a copy of GIA certificate) Can I trust that?
3. Is the policy date by default the applied date on the application, or the date the agent gave the first quote? (they sent me the application one week later. )
Since the agent got impatient for I was asking the above 3 questions and implied to me I should change agent, so I agreed because I hope to have a good long-term relationship with an agent.
Please advise me what information I should request an insurance agent to include in the policy to distinguish the diamond and should I insure at the appraised value? so that I don''t run into problems again. I''m also seeking recommendation of insurance companies and agents because I really want to buy insurance.
Thank you.
