Inside a rubin

I rigged a usb scope and immersed a stone.

Quite revealing. old blood, native cut. No fancy pics.

Bought in Idar-Oberstein in 1981. 1.55 ct

4th pic is in uw but with some incadascent light. The stone in complete uw uv light is pinkish neon red.

Got the original receipt, guess the price

Well, it was 2150 dm about 955 usd at the time. $ 616 per ct.

It got a very nice uv glow. Stronger than the camera pic suggests.

I think if you really want to know the value of your dad's collection, you should just send them to a reputable lab and see how they test.

Right, will first take them to a local gemologist with some lab resources to sort out the canditates to be sent for more extensive analysis/reports.
