Hi everyone,
I'd like to get some opinions on a stone. I am serious about purchasing but I've read some bad things about knots. I don't have the opportunity to see this stone in-person but the vendor is telling me it's 100% eye clean. Unfortunately he doesn't have the ability to send me a enlarged photo.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this stone based on the specs. Any concerns?

THANKS!

Who graded the stone? Do you have the angle measurements?

There is no way to know whether it's eye-clean to YOUR standards till YOU see it live.

Hope your vendor has a good return policy.

If you are willing to send for the stone loose to look at and then send it back, that's fine. But I would not buy an SI2 without either seeing it in person or having very good magnified photos.

It's graded by GIA.

The angles are:
Table: 59%
Depth: 59.7
Crown: 33.5
Pavilion: 40.8

I`m most curious about the inclusions.

Does the seller have a good return policey? My SI2 that is graded EGL International has a knot but you can only see it with a 10 or 30x loupe (can't remember which one). Obviously it doesn't bother me as I can't see it from the naked eye. As long as the seller will accept a 100% money back refund (no restocking fee) etc I would buy it to just see it myself.

Thanks to those who have provided their input.
Generally speaking, are knots a real concern for the integrity of the diamond? It appears to be so small and I was told by the vendor that the GIA image is exaggerated.
Eye clean is secondary to me compared to the problem of the knot. I'd love to hear from others who have experience with knots.

The diamond is on hold until tomorrow. THANK YOU!!!

I don't have any experience with knots so I cant offer much insight. I did want to bump your thread though to see if others might be able offer you the insight you are looking for. I don't think that it will be a significant durability risk however I think I might be concerned that it is surface reaching and depending on depth, if dirt or oils could get inside and interfere with light performance? Garry Holloway discussed this in a thread one time but I cant remember the specifics and since I'm away from my laptop at the moment I wouldn't be able to link it for you anyway but you might do a search at the top of the page and see if any old threads pop up that may be helpful! :))

Hi~can't the jeweler just take the best picture he can and send it to you? Everyone has a camera...
Just sayin'

If it's a GIA cert, I think you're fine as long as you can return it.
