Hmm, did you ask why the cert is from 2009? What's the background story on this diamond?
Also, what do you think of the diamond? Cushion cuts come in many different faceting structures. Some like the modern look with splintery/smaller flashes of light while others favor a vintage/antique look with broad/wide chunky facets.
I like this shape but I am not sure about the stone does it look a bit yellow to you? As far as modern vs. antique I am not sure I am going to be setting it in a halo similar to the harry Winston micro pave. What kind of stone do you recommend for that, modern or antique? I am not sure the background on the stone, I am asking now.
The venders reply about the story behind the stone. “Stones trade from dealer to dealer based on need to fill inventory… We bought this stone from a dealer..”
That reply is a standard reply and would worry me a little as it has been nearly 3 years since it was originally graded. Either someone never bought it and it has been handed over to different dealers for the past several years or someone previously owned it and traded it in. If that is the case then it would require an appraisel to determine if it is still in the same condition and quality as originally graded.
But, I would definitely get more information like ASET and ideal scope images before making any decision on this cushion cut.
