People here have been very helpful and informative so far, I want to start by thanking you all.

The following stone is on its way to my independent appraiser:

1.5 Ct, Round
Total Depth 59.2%
Table Width 58%
Crown Height 14%
Pavilion Depth 42%
Medium Girdle

Polish EX
Symm EX
Culet None

Clarity VS2
Color G
Fluorescence None

HCA – 1.6 TIC, Light Return VG, Fire EX, Scintillation EX, Spread EX.

1. Are there any characteristics that would be concerning or telling of some flaw?
2. On the HCA chart, the pavilion angle puts the stone just below GIA EX and AGS ideal candidates. In this region, on the chart, it says that this is an “older person’s stone.” What does this mean for how the stone looks?

Thanks!

PS - Price ~ $8,500

wow, is that correct? that price seems soooo low for a 1.5ct G VS2 RB diamond! may i ask what vendor this stone is from? do you have the crown and pavilion angles?

Who graded this stone? If it was EGL and by the numbers it looks like it could of been, that would explain the low price.

I do not have the actual angles unfortunately.

I forgot to include an important piece of info and it is why the cost is so low...EGL cert.

I am not sure how much of an over-estimate the cert is. If the indep app is much lower, then I probably wont go with the stone.

If that stone doesn''t work out for you, take a look at this AGS0 stone from GOG. It''s lower color and clarity, but looks to be eye clean and is a 1.53 for $8790

i guess wait and see what your appraiser says. the EGL cert explains the low price.

have you seen the diamond yourself yet? if the diamond checks out and you love the way it looks, then it''s a steal!

my mom has a EGL cert 3 stone ring and it sparkles like mad, she loves it too, so just because it''s EGL cert doesn''t make it a bad diamond.

just make sure you are actually getting what the cert says you''re getting. sometimes EGL can be kinda easy on the grading, so the color/clarity might actually be lower than what''s on the cert.

otherwise if you''re willing to go lower in color and clarity, impatient posted a fabulous stone. i have an I stone and i love it!
