Thank you for your reply. It will be in a simple antique setting with a buttercup around the stone. I am tossing around the idea of doing a diamond halo, but worry that the K stone will not look right with a higher color surround.

Maybe you could do a J-K color halo.

The pricing seems correct for a K/VS2 stone. Bear in mind though that if the color happens to be one grade lower (L), the value drops about 22%. If it happens to be one grade lower in both color and clarity (L/SI1), the value drops about 31%.

So my point is you want to make sure this is a K/VS2. Either ask for major lab certification, or have it verified by an independent appraiser whose grading you trust.

You could make the purchase contingent upon the diamond appraising or certifying out to your satisfaction. If you buy it as a K/VS2 and it certifies out at L/VS2, then tell the seller you expect a 22% discount.

Update: I bought it. I am going to Singlestone next Saturday (9/20) to pick out a setting. Thank you to everyone who chimed in. I really really appreciate it and will post photos of my ring once it is complete
