Hi -
I have not posted here before but do lurk occasionally. I recently inherited my grandmother''s antique e-ring and eternity band. The settings are platinum and the rings are just beautiful. I prefer not to touch them in any way, just wear them as they are. However, size-wise they are a bit large for my ring finger. When I took them to the jeweler to be resized I was told no problem with resizing the e-ring. However, since the wedding band has diamonds all the way around, there is no way to resize without losing diamonds. I suggested maybe re-sizing the e-ring and wearing the band behind it - that way the e-ring would hold the band on. However, the jeweler said because of the two different sizes this could create additional wear on the rings, thus he recommended not doing this. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, are any options that don''t involve losing diamonds? It is a uniquely styled band (there are different sections of diamonds all the way around), and I fear that I would not only lose diamonds but I would also be losing something in the style of the ring.
I would really prefer to wear the e-ring on the same finger as the band, if possible. Another option is for me to wear the band on a different finger and buy a new platinum band to wear with the e-ring, but I was trying to avoid doing that if possible, since they are a set.
TIA!
