I have a ring that I inherited from my Grandmother. In 1983 it was appraised at $1790.00.
do I have to have it re-appraised to sell it for a reasonable price or can I just adjust for the 25 year inflation factor? Can someone help me determine what the inflation would be? Thanks very much for helping me.

We don''t know what that $1790 means. And it doesn''t mean you''ll get anywhere near 1790 + 25 years inflation Here is a useful thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/appraisals-for-resale.48853/

As Bryan says very well,

While you don''t need appraisals to sell, you definitely want to be well informed as to the kind and quality of items you have. It would be worth your while to consult a credentialed jewelry appraiser who is in no way involved in the transaction.

There''s lots of appraisal threads in the FAQ, very useful, I think.
