Need help deciding between two diamonds. Any thoughts? Do I get the vs2 or stick with the si1? It's an infinity diamond.

I think it depends. If the price difference is not a huge amount I would go with the VS2. However if its completely eye clean and a good saving I wouldn't hesitate to get the S11.

You can never go wrong with an Infinity diamond. They will blow your socks off :)

However, based on the specs on the certificate alone, I would prefer the Si1 one.

Hi Jmrxb6
I think looking at the stones in different light would help with any doubts about which diamond would be the best choice for you.
Best regards,

Here is something else to think about.

CBI diamonds are already in the top half of the top 1% of all diamonds ever cut in terms of cutting. Both are highly desirable diamonds. Between the two, in my opinion, I would choose the 1.05 ct. because if there was any minor damage to the diamond there would be a better chance of repair while retaining both the CBI grading AND the 1.00 ct weight.

If you cannot physically see both diamonds at the same time, ask for a video of the two stones. It is just a shot in the dark for us to choose one from paper. That said, I prefer VS2 or higher, personally. The SI1 would have to have white inclusions that were impossible to see with the eye for me to consider it.

Out of these two, I would pick the VS2 overall preferred. Also, clouds not shown on the report of the SI1 makes me a bit concerned. That said, both should be creme de la creme being CBI.

would these clouds impact the diamonds light performance or integrity on a noticeable level on the si1? Also, if it is a white inclusion, how do I tell?

They most likely would have zero effect on light performance. The best way to answer these questions is to have the gemologist(s) pull the stones and give you a short write up on the stones based upon whatever questions you choose to ask. A video would be lovely as well.

All of the images (hearts, arrows, Idealscope, ASET) and a video of this diamond are available on Wink's HPD website. Please have a look.

I believe that all CBI dealers have access to the same database of their diamonds. I studied many of them before ordering my own custom "cut-to-order" CBI diamond.
