Dear Forumites,
I recently bought a round diamond by the numbers and didn't get to see the ASET/IS images as the retailer doesn't provide those. I acknowledge that buying diamonds without ASET and IS images is frowned upon in this forum (and shame on me for still doing that) but I was given an excellent price for the diamond along with a 30 day hassle-free return.
I got it for $9600 and got it set in a pendant. Since it is at least $2-3K less than anywhere else with the similar specs, I am worried that it is missing out something major (perhaps cut quality?) which my inexperienced eyes can't spot. The date on the GIA certificate is of Jan 2015. So, it is unlikely to be a pre-owned diamond. Under certain conditions such as brightly lit, its center shows dark. However, it sparkles evenly when its in shade or is in poorly lit conditions. I am not sure if that's typical with all round diamonds.
Could you help me decide whether it's indeed a keeper? I'd very much appreciate your responses. Details and the actual images are below.
Details:
Carat: 1.5
Color: H
Clarity: VVS2
size: 7.38mm
Cut, Polish, Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: Faint
Table: 56%
Depth: 61.5%
crown angle: 34.5 (crown 15%)
Pavilion angle: 40.8 (pavilion 43%)
medium faceted, 3.5%
