Hello,

I have a peridot that I would like to set into a simple yellow gold pendant. Can anyone recommend where they source inexpensive, reasonable quality pendant settings? Is it best to ship the stone to the setter? Australian options would also be welcomed too. I've had a quote from a local jeweller and was shocked at the price.

Thank you so much

What are the dimensions? If it is close to a calibrayed size and not too deep, otherwise you may need to go custom unless you have a good inexpensive bench.

I've had luck with preloved settings (I have a good reasonably priced local bench though). A lot of folks use Stuller settings for calibrated sizes, but not sure how they are priced in Australia.

Are you in Sydney?

There is a good jeweller in Chinatown that I have used a few times. They know how to set coloured stones and sell a lot of empty settings for pendants and rings.

What price range are you thinking of?

Thank you. It is an oval 10*13mm, so I may well be able to find an existing Stuller setting. I'll take a closer look. Any other suggestions on where to source pendant mountings for coloured gems, in Australia would also be appreciated, thank you :-)

Thank you MellowYellow, I'm in Perth/Brisbane, but not often in Sydney. I was hoping to keep it under $500, I have many gold chains I can use and am just after the pendant mounting itself. It's a pretty peridot gifted from my father-in-law and it seems a shame to leave it sitting in the box!

I imagine silver/gold wire wrappings would be the cheapest option. If you google them in images, there are quite some artistic design out there, and you can actually DIY with some patience. I did, it is fun.
