Hey everyone I'm looking to buy ASAP and am having a really tough time choosing between two round cut diamonds I'd just like your input...
The 0.81 ct is $2000 less than the 0.95. I'm just a little worried the 0.81 will be a little too small. Her ring size is 5.

1. F, VS2, AGS000, 0.95 ct HCA of 0.9
2. F, VVS1, AGS000, 0.81 ct HCA of 0.7

Both are H&A
Thanks!

Without knowing too much info like a certificate copy it is difficult to say. The difference between a vvs1 and vs2 is big. However a vs2 is not going to be eye visible generally speaking. The price difference is also quite large. You really need to make a personal decision here: does your budget permit the larger size? 0.81ct is not small and will definitely look nice on a size 5 finger. However 0.95 is definitely visibly larger. Sorry I can't be too much help but you need to make a budget vs. Size concern decision here. Best of luck! I'm sure shes'll love either!

Thanks,

The diamond will be placed in this setting: http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/diamond-settings/felicity-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-by-vatche-1650.htm

There's also a 3rd option that could be in consideration:

Ugh sorry I forgot to post the links to the diamonds. I've put a hold on both diamonds for now.

Thanks Anubh. I do find the price difference a little large. I could use the money for the proposal or wedding band later on. I am just a little worried the 0.8 may be too small but as you mentioned, it should be okay.

Both are gorgeous eye clean well cut stones   In this case I would pick the largest coz bigger is always better for me :naughty: and you will be able to see a size difference between the .95ct and .805ct. It is as awesome find to get a stone just under the ct mark since you will have the look of a ct stone without paying the price jump for a 1ct stone. The price difference would be worth it for me but the more important question is, is it worth it to you? Of course the extra $$ could go to settings or a wedding band. Sigh... so many options and decisions to make.... Have fun.

I would definitely go for the largest if you can.
I only looked at the specs briefly, but there is a notable size difference. They will all be beautiful, so you don't need the size to get the beauty, but I've always wished I'd bought a larger stone when I've shopped.
my 2 cents

I don't know if it's OK to post this here, since I'm the potential seller, but there is an ACA in your size range being discussed in the pre-loved forum which might be an option.

Is there too much green in the ASET image for the 0.946 that may compromise light performance?

not an issue with these hand-picked ACAs

Ahh I see. Im definitely not interested in previously owned diamonds. I did take a look and it seems a lot of people are interested :)

I researched so much that every little imperfection makes me reconsider. AGHHH

not that I'm pushing my stone, because I''m sure it will sell, but FYI many diamonds are pre-owned, you just don't know it and there's no way to tell. For instance, if I trade my diamond in, it will go up on the website and someone will pay full price for it. In fact you might even buy it LOL.

Yeah I definitely was wary of that. I know these retailers repost trade ins. Im also set on that particular setting and entire package.

Maybe someone can enlighten us further. I wonder what percentage of stones come directly from the cutter and how many are recycled.
I would imagine that it's not just from trade-ins with a particular vendor, but that there are many diamonds that sort of "float around" in the system. Vendors sometimes cut their own diamonds, but I belive they also pick "winners" out of a large pool of stones of unknown origin.
Someone please correct me it I am wrong.

In any event, best luck with your search!
