I wanted to buy my wife something with a little bit of sparkle for Christmas. I cam across this ring and I think that she will really like it. The ring is platinum, 1.01 total diamond weight and it's currently sized 6.5. It will have be sized down to a 4 to fit her slim fingers. Anyways, can some of the experts here give me an idea of the over quality Lieberfarb uses with their diamonds? To the eye these looked clean with lots of sparkle and under 10x magnification I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I've dealt with this jeweler a lot for watch purchases and I trust him/them, but at the same time I'd like to educate myself a bit better before pulling the trigger.

Thanks!

Also, is there a name for the setting of the diamonds? I really like how you can see the entire diamond from the sides.

That's a U-prong setting. I'd be concerned about sizing down from a 6.5 to a 4. Did the jeweler say that wouldn't affect the structural integrity?

As was I. I spoke with jeweler and he said that he would most likely have to do some extra work to secure the stones but wasn't too concerned.

It's a beautiful ring, do you know how the stones are graded?

They are most likely VS2 or SI1. I looked at them through my "Loupe System" and they are very nice. The jeweler did make a call to Lieberfarb today to see if they had time to make the correct size for me by Christmas. If not we will just resize this one. Also, she called the setting a U-ternity setting which makes sense based on the look.

For those that aren't familiar with the Loupe System take a look. It was originally designed for inspecting watches but it's fantastic all around. You can even buy an iPhone case that uses the loupe and turns your phone into a pretty decent macro lens. http://www.loupesystem.com/
