Twitter users speculate that Donald Trump increased his hand size in a photo

Even before he was a candidate, President Donald Trump has faced — and vehemently contested — claims that his hands are any smaller than normal-sized hands. And while hand size has no discernible impact on one's ability to be president, there's a theory floating around that Trump may have had a photo altered to make one of his hands look larger.

The president's hands have been ridiculed since he started his campaign, and he has told everyone from media outlets to Marco Rubio that there's nothing unusual about them.

"My hands are normal hands," he assured the Washington Post editorial board in March 2016. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trump's hands are only slightly below average.

Dana Schwartz, a writer for the New York Observer, noticed something looked off about Trump's hands in a photo from inauguration that is hanging in the White House. It was shown in his ABC interview with David Muir Wednesday night.

She said she compared the photo the president displayed in his new home with the original photo from Getty Images. Trump's hand looks slightly larger in the original photo than it does in the displayed one.

Some suggested that the hand just looks strange because Schwartz was comparing it to a photo that was slightly further away:

She then shared the photos again, this time with the same dimensions as the one hanging in the White House:

As many more Twitter users chimed in with their own theories, Schwartz retweeted a GIF from a man who pointed out subtle hints that the photo was altered.

An alternate theory suggests that perhaps the images Schwartz shared are not the same at all. There is a chance the one that is hanging in the White House captures a moment in which Trump's hand was hovering above the former president's shoulder, thus making it appear bigger.

Thank you! I'm really going to have to turn off my ad blocker if this is the kind of stuff I'm missing! (I kid, I kid! :cheeky: )

From what I can find this seems to be the comparison that people are talking about... Boy, I don't know.... In my opinion there's no way to make a comparison with these because the just aren't the same (if that makes any sense).

Let us hope this is not the thing that resources are being spent on though -- I mean, there is a Country To Run!

Did you also miss the one reporting one of the secret service men at the inauguration parade, when the Trumps got out and walked, was actually wearing a prosthetic hand.

His real one was under his coat holding a gun.

It is not the hand size as to why I reported this

It is the ridiculous reporting on both sides.

And the constant baiting and wondering why he answers back.

Geez, the next thing you know they'll be claiming he was born in Kenya or that he's Muslim or something!

Obama was done wrong. No doubt about it.

So the answer is to keep fanning the flames as some sort of payback.

Continue the tit for tat or take the high road?

Does it bother you he (I am guessing you mean Trump here) answers back? It's not an unknown factor. I think many people have agreed with you already that bias abounds. The first thing I disbelieve is a meme....

And, I am pretty sure Presidents and others in power have been ridiculed for many long years....remember this one from the 80's?

Yes, it does because I think he looks foolish when he does .I wish people would stop baiting him.

I wish people would get over their anger for how Obama was treated and stop the back and forth nonsense.

As someone above said, is this what we are wasting our resources on?

I don't know that there is a way to stop baiting him though because he takes everything as bait.

Yes, the hand thing is like the Kenya/Muslim thing -- put that aside for a moment. He took the reporting of the numbers at the inauguration as bait. That's just one example (I'm short on time; have to do something for a client) but you get the picture.

Absent not reporting at all I don't know how to not-bait him...?

He's going to have to have a lot thicker skin if he, and we, are to *survive* the next 4 years because everything baits him (and I will contrast that with Obama, who did not behave that way). Regardless, if this bothers people so much, and it's not like no body had a clue about this being an issue, it should have factored in to their voting, as it did for other people. I have family members who are strongly Christian, and Conservative, who refused to vote for him because of these types of actions and wrote in another candidate.

Part of the professional job of someone who is in the limelight and public eye (because it is not realistic that everyone is going to agree with them) is at the very least to have a public responsibility to maintain professional behavior. And it should have been very very clear last year that this was not going to happen, over and over and over. People voted for reality TV drama and that is what they got.

People are indeed wasting their resources on it now, meanwhile, scientific data on government websites is removed from public access until such a time as select parts are officially "okay'd" and other things that you may or may not agree with in political policy. But the more they can keep people mad over these other things, the longer they hold you and keep you from thinking for yourself. The more they can keep YOU mad that people disagree, the more hold they have on you as well.

I do agree with one thing. He needs to rise above this, act more professional, and stop with the playground tweeting.

Maybe if he stopped responding, people would stop provoking him.

And you are a bit new to this board, so you may not have caught this.

Look at my old posts - I did not vote for him or her. I kept that blank. I could not find a good reason at the time to vote for either one.

Yes- I am aware. I gathered that from your posts. I understand you dislike the baiting and negativity as a thing in general, and are not necessarily defending Trump. But we all already know trying to one up the other side with anecdotes doesn't work. So why rise to the bait? It may mean you have to ignore something, or respond politely anyway despite something you don't like. That's just being professional. :D

I dislike and disagree fundamentally with everything about Trump, and I believe his current path will lead our society as we know it to destruction in the long term, possibly even the short term. However, I also choose not to join in on the name calling. I would join in with things that would hold him accountable however....

I think you and I both defended ourselves very well in this with no baiting. :wavey:

There's a theory I've heard that goes: Trump is not able to handle being baited. (Which is done to every single president) And that he will eventually explode and/or implode from the baiting. And that it would be better for him to explode at America rather than explode at a foreign leader, which could lead to pretty dire circumstances.
