What are the top 10 things in daily life that annoy/frustrate you?

Here are mine. In no particular order.

1. My laptop/phone/ipad freezing.
And as a corollary- slow wi fi.

2. Subway delays. Every single day.

3. Being stuck in traffic.

4. When you do something considerate/polite/nice and you don't get a thank you i.e. holding the door for someone and they just go through it without even an acknowledging nod. Or letting someone cut in while you are driving and not getting the thank you wave.

5. Parents letting their kids behave badly in nice restaurants.

6. Mail delays and losses. All year long not just this time of year but yes it is worse this time of year.

7. People multitasking to the detriment/danger of others. Such as walking and texting and slowing everyone down as well as not paying attention and being a hazard to others as well as themselves. "Rude inconsiderate I'm the center of the universe" behavior.

8. Being put on hold on the phone for long periods of time while waiting to talk with customer service or fill in the blank.
And as a corollary being disconnected after waiting for a long time.

9. Noisy (and as a corollary nosy) neighbors

10. And slightly related to #9...
People who play their music too loud so you can easily hear it whether you want to or not. Be it on public transport or just in their car blasting the noise. I get some satisfaction knowing they are causing damage to their eardrums. See? I am not so sweet am I? I go by this principle in life-Do what you want as long as it doesn't affect me negatively in any way. Once you start impacting my well being all bets are off.

I have more but limited myself to 10 for the sake of getting out the crazy and going back to Zen once I vent here. Please share in the vent. It's cathartic.

Dear @missy , I play my music so loud that I can feel it bumping off of my chest. Sometimes, I need to chase the demons away. :kiss2:

I have one complaint at this time. Why oh why does everyone become a crappy driver during the holidays? Are the full of egg nog? Are these the hermits who have only emerged due to gift giving obligations and their driving skills aren’t up to par? Am I the crappy driver who is projecting her lack of skill onto others?

Maybe the problem is all of the sparkly lights hung all over the palm trees that are distracting everyone!

I should add if it’s my friend or someone playing music I like blast away.
So housecat please feel free to pump up the volume if I’m around friend!

And I’m right there with you re the crappy drivers all around. Definitely worse this time of year.
Stay safe out there!

I don't understand why people get holiday stress that spreads to everyone around them because they seem so high strung and miserable. DH gets this every year. I try to help mitigate it, but it seems endemic? Honestly, I'm perfectly happy with no decorations, presents, holiday cooking/baking, etc. Nothing in life is worth the stress IMO. I feel pressure from things I can't even identify when he or other people get this way.

It is endemic and yes I would prefer no holiday stress and I’m in the bah humbug leave me alone category. I’m happy to just spend the holidays with my DH and maybe a few loved ones minus the brouhaha.

Namaste to all.

1. Terrible cell phone reception and dropped calls. You would think in a city of over 8 million people, we would do something about it.. but noooo..

2. Time Warner aka Spectrum. When you have a service appointment, their automated system starts to call you at least 2 hours prior to the the time the tech is supposed to come.
If you don't answer the first call, and hit whatever number they want you to, they cancel the appointment automatically.
If you do answer the first call and tell them you still need service, they call back an hour later to confirm it yet again. Same thing, you need to hit the appropriate number or they cancel.
It's ridiculous - they expect you to be home hours before they arrive just to answer their calls.

This actually happened to us. I called and got two free months of cable and internet because I got home early (not early enough to answer their calls though), waited for hours, and they never showed. Turns out they cancelled our appointment and never let us know.

elle_chris I feel your pain. It’s a ridiculous system weighted completely in the favor of the cable provider. Glad you were able to get 2months free at least for your trouble. Dealing with any provider be it cable, internet, phone etc can be a royal pain in the you know what. Sigh.

Everyone is staring at a fvcking cellphone. :angryfire::angryfire::angryfire:

Yeah this makes me go Grrrrr too because it is so inconsiderate of others and so dangerous as well. Head in the phone unaware of what is happening around them. And don't get me started on driving while looking at one's phone. I see it happening too much so it isn't uncommon. Dangerous thoughtless and just plain stupid.:nono:

It's everywhere around us. People engaged with their things rather than live human beings. People not aware of their surroundings. :knockout:

HI:

People who pass gas in the elevator or at the market or or or...leaving you in a wake of stink. Lay off the egg nog and Christmas cookies (carbs) people!!

cheers--Sharon

Are you serious! They confirm the appointment multiple times? That would drive me insane! An appointment is booked. Unless one party calls the other to cancel it, then the appointment is still on. I'd go nuts having to confirm repeatedly. Here, the technician calls when heading over from the previous appointment location, so they know someone's home and waiting for them.

OK, some of these posts are shocking. :nono:

Yep.
I was home most of the morning on the day we re-scheduled for and they called twice.

Picking up the phone isn't even enough - had to listen to the entire damn menu and choose the correct number for them to confirm. I damn near lost my mind.

This happened about a year ago, before Time Warner became Spectrum so no idea if they still do it.

Year round, every time I'm driving at night, I see at least one car without its headlights on.
The record, so far, is five cars in a period of no more than 90 minutes. All on the highway going faster than the posted 100 km/60 miles. People on highways, people driving out towards the countryside, all driving along without their headlights turned on. Yes, I know running lights (whatever the correct term) come on automatically, but they're only at the front. The car is completely unlit from behind. Countless times, when its been safe, I pull up along side, and inform (through words or gestures) the driver their lights aren't on. People have always been appreciative of being informed.

A few people, however, don't know what I want.

To the guy driving the Geek Squad van #17 the other night: the lady in the car next to you wasn't trying to pick you up. Your nervous smile and wide eyes indicated I had your attention, but you didn't get my message. Turn on your lights!

Not being out on the water on my boat and not being at the cabbing machine with an Opal, those things annoy me on a daily basis

Dahleeng, just marry a millionaire. :$$):

Daytime running lights. Standard in Canada?

@canuk-gal , you know, those lights that come on at the front of the car when you turn on the ignition.
Well, you're in Alberta, so replace the word 'car' with 'pickup'. :mrgreen2:

@canuk-gal , I started to question myself and was going to pull on my boots and head out to the garage. Decided to google instead.

"Daytime running lights are lights located on the front of a vehicle that remain on whenever the engine is running. Unlike headlights, daytime running lights are fairly dim and don't illuminate the road ahead. The purpose of daytime running lights is to increase the visibility of your car, so that other drivers can see you on the road."

"Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Act (MVSA) and its Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (MVSRs) require that all new vehicles sold in (or imported into) Canada and built after December 1, 1989, be fitted with daytime running lights (DRLs) that go on when you start the vehicle."

Send me a virtual snarl if I was out-of-light with the Alberta-pickup comment. I was just teasing.
The wonderful man in my life was posted here from Alberta by the military.
He drove his car here and had his truck (trailer and quad) shipped.
The day his pickup arrived he was glowing. Eyes filled with love, and heart beating with passion to be reconnected with the real love in his life. :lol-2:

Ugh what's annoying Is that I just ate and saw this thread and thought it said something bout a hamburger and now I want a bah hamburger. This does not help with weight loss.

So his "lights" run day and night? You bet. :appl:We need functional automobile lights day and night...man and machine. I understand the "code", thank you!

cheers--Sharon

@december-fire, The comments about the wonderful man in your life and his truck were hysterical.

On a completely unrelated note, marriage equality was made legal today. Does that encompass financial polygamy?

Kudos to Oz.

... I won't tell. :Up_to_something:

You should have been there when we went to Toronto and visited the Hockey Hall of Fame.
People can have their picture taken with the Stanley Cup.
My guy? Wide-eyed, big smile, rushes up to the Cup, throws his arm around it and gives it a big smooch.
He's the strong, silent type. Calm, confident, in charge of his emotions. Until he isn't.
Oh well, as long as I'm in the Top 3, I'm happy.

You covered some of my Missy...

#4 (1)...holding the door and not being acknowledged. Some people think you're their personal Doorman...I dont get paid to do this job. A simple Thank you would be appreciated (besides, even people that do get paid to do the job should be thanked).

#7 (2) People driving and looking at their phones while their car is aimed in my direction. They realize in enough time and straighten out but whats
going to happen that one time they dont straighten out in time??? This never used to happen to me before cell phones (yes, I'm that old...I belong
to the generation of adults that existed before cell phones!)

3 People at the grocery store that park their cart in the middle of the isle so nobody can get by. Or park on one side then stand on the other and ignore
you while you wait there. I know this is wrong but I dont feel like thanking them for moving their carts when it shouldnt have been there in the first place.
In my mind, I'm saying "about time". I should probably take a Valium or something like that before I go to the grocery store. Its a big stressor to me.

4 Changing toilet paper in the house...apparently I'm the only one out of 4 people in the house who knows how to insert a new roll of toilet paper. I
just shake my head. It doesnt really make me angry but does give me that bah humbug feeling (probably because I dont feel like I'm being appreciated???)

5 The way people drive...I wish people didnt drive like they were the only ones on the road. A little more appreciation (like you mentioned Missy) would
be helpful. Letting people out of parking lots or leaving an opening so people can get it. Not leaving a whole car space between you can the car in
front of you which causes a backup and blocks off the left hand turning lane. People on their phones at a 4 way stop so they're not paying attention
to when its their turn. Not using blinkers..just a lot of little things. I'd like to write some new driving rules that I think would help us all...

6 My kids when they keep me waiting because them watching the end of a video is more important than me needing them:rolleyes::wall:

I'm sure I have plenty more bah humbug moments...I better stop now though:hand::oops2:

@december-fire LOL. I think I may be married to your guy! Mine would also be kissing the Cup! There is a walk in closet in our home that has many signed hockey jerseys and too many signed pucks to count. They are all in separate clear plastic containers, labeled with the name of the player and a number. He even has a signed framed hockey picture hanging inside the closet. I knew it was really bad when my nephew was over and he told me to never let my husband give me a hard time about buying jewelry.

The sad thing is most of my nieces would be happier getting my husband's sports stuff than my jewelry.

Traffic pet peeve:

I'm waiting at a red light in the left lane to turn left; there are several cars in front of me.
Light turns green (not a left arrow green) so we all must wait till oncoming traffic clears.

The car in front of the line pulls up only a few feet, instead of all the way into the intersection.
That means when oncoming traffic finally clears, and our light turns yellow, only that one car can turn left.
Had they pulled up further 2, 3, or sometimes 4 cars could have turned left.

:angryfire:

Yes totally agree. Why are so many people so terribly inconsiderate. Are they just oblivious? Or do they just not give a damn?

Yes with the exception of your PS related annoyance (cause I just skip those usually and don’t even see them as I don’t feel expert enough to chime in on rocky talk so I miss those) I could have written your post. Every single one. Annoying. Grrrrr.
