I know we have a lot of health conscious members on this board and also some that are trying to lose weight.
I have had some success with weight loss (have lost about 35lbs total now) and I thought I would share the info about this dressing since it tastes amazing and is actually healthy.
Here is the website with info on the dressing: Galeos Cafe

Basically it is a salad dressing/ meat marinade that has a creamy taste/texture and is created using Miso paste (fermented soybeans), honey, toasted sesame seeds, rice vinegar, sesame seed oil, sea salt and spices.
This dressing has 22 cals (2g fat - 0g trans fat - 0.2g sat fat - 35mg sodium - 0.5g carbs - 0.5g fiber - 0.5g sugars - 0.5g protein) per tablespoon.

I doubly love this dressing for being great tasting and healthy (something that is somewhat like a fable horse among salad dressings). Usually "light" dressings trade the fat for sugar and/or salt, which I don''t find particularly healthy...

Anyway, I hope this is helpful to some that have searched for good tasting healthy dressings and have not had luck finding one. This dressing is yummy

Thanks for the tip! I''m always in search of the next great dressing. I love salad in the summer, but I like variety, so I have about 5-10 bottles of different dressings in my refrigerator at any give time. Right now I have plain ranch, jalapeno ranch, Costco Sesame Dressing, a Raspberry Vinagrette, a champagne pear from Trader Joes, and I make my own balsamic vinagrette. I''ve never had a miso dressing before. I''m sure I''ll like it.

Ooooh, I'm definitely trying this one as soon as I find miso paste! Thanks posh!

eta: oops, I thought it was a recipe, lol

So, what are you doing with the TJ Pear? I tried it on romaine, but it was too sweet. I''ve been cutting it with other dressings trying to use it up.

YUM Miso
It adds flavor to so many dishes.
Soups sauces dressings marinaides
I would advise starting with the mild white miso
which is actually kind of yellow colored
The reddish brown is stronger

Sounds yummy! Thanks for the tip, posh!

that sounds good, I may have to try making it since I can''t get that here... one of the things I do (I absolutely hate and refuse to eat "light" dressing - it''s revolting imo... it''s different when it is naturally healthy) especially at restaurants is I order ranch (works for blue cheese) on the side and a bunch of lemons. I squeeze the lemons all over the salad then just one little bit of the dressing and I like it even better than if I slathered it in dressing. The lemon gives tang and acts as a vehicle to get the salt and other seasonings from the ranch to every bit without needing that much of it.

what about caramelized balsamic vinegar?
i love it and is healthy compared to lots of salad dressings out there

you should be able to find some at the deli or your local supermarket
usually the ones you find in deli are a lot better quality

i have it with salads, steamed chicken and vegetables
even with steak :)

The "original" sesame flavor does not have canola oil just FYI

Actually I bet you could make it pretty easily with some experimentation... let me know if you try it

I don''t really do anything other than just add a little, and also crumble feta cheese on my salads to balance the sweetness. May I just like sweet dressings.

Sometimes when I get a honey mustard dressing that is too sweet, I mix with some ranch to give it creaminess, and reduce the sweetness.

Okay don't shoot me but have you tried NO dressing?

I don't eat salad dressing, ketchup, tartar sauce, mayo, mustard etc.
Never have, and never will.
The smell of vinegary condiments makes me hurl.

I realize everyone else on the planet loves salad dressing and are scrunching up their noses at me now.
I've heard it all.
"The dressing is the best part; it is the reason I have a salad".
"Doesn't a dry salad taste like cardboard?"
"It is rude to not accept what a host offers you in their house."

Waiters will look at me with sympathy and say, "Oh you poor baby, do you want me to bring the dressing on the side? WHAT? NO? Well, how about a lemon wedge then?"
They react like I'm ordering a bowl of water.
It is like people have to have their taste buds blown out of their mouth in order to enjoy one of the most healthy, and to me delicious, foods in our diet.
Well guess what, one of the most healthy things we put into our body is a glass of water, plain water.

Instead of thinking of it as a pathetic deprived salad, think of it as a completely new food you are discovering for the first time.
You might even discover the wonderful subtle flavor nuances of the salad ingredients themselves.
After all, these things is just stuff in our heads so it is subject to change.

Haahaa, I won’t shoot you

To answer your question, yes I have tried no dressing. I have found that depending on the toppings this is fine (for example if I top my salad with salsa, avocado/guacamole, or sour cream I don’t need dressing since the salad is not dry).

However, I will admit that I do not enjoy "dry" salads. There has to be something there to give moisture. That is why I like this dressing, it is low fat, low sodium and tastes great (and does not "cover up" the taste of the salad components).

Also, I am not one that drowns my salad with dressing, depending on the size of the salad I put one to two tablespoons and toss, giving everything an even coating, and I can still taste the individual components, I can even taste the difference lettuces I have in there.
Just out of curiosity what are your favorite salad ingredients Kenny?

Oooh, that sounds yummy.

We never buy dressing, we just make our own. A bit of EVOO, some balsamic vinegar, salt, lemon pepper, and the salad is dressed!

I prefer romaine lettuce, roma tomatoes, carrot, alfalfa sprouts, cabbage, celery, occasionally a few raisins or feta cheese crumbles or shredded parmesan.
I also like to toss in nuts like pistachio or crunchy walnuts.

But I've also been known to just grab a head of romaine lettuce and eat it like an apple while driving.
I'm strange.

I totally agree with the OP. When I saw the title of the thread, I opened it to see if it was about my new favorite healthy dressing! (And it was ...)
