OK, I''ve been lurking here for about two weeks and have read alot of good information. My girlfriend and I have gone ring looking, and we both fell in love with the Vera Wang Pave. But, still being in college, I can''t afford it.

I found the other thread talking about what is similar, such as the Michael B. Petite Princess, and the Pearlman''s Collection.

I''m just curious if there is anything else similar before I decide. I''d like to put around a 1ct princess cut diamond for the center stone, but I''d like to get the band first before I decide what stone to put in (so I understand the size and depth better...)

I''m also looking at having one custom done to be similar, but as I read in the other thread some jewlers might not put the pave in that small of a band? I also read that some people worried about the durability of the Vera Wang ring...

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

depends on your budget?

hi dabo and welcome,

with most designer settings you''ll have to decide on your center stone before you can order you setting. the heads(the part that holds the center diamond) will have to be made to fit your shape/size stone.

you might also want to look at Ritani for micropave rings. They are a lot more affordable than the big names like michael b and vera wang and the workmanship is excellent. Pearlmans carries Ritani too.

mrssaivo thank you, that bit about getting the diamond first really helps, and clarifies, I was thinking all wrong!

I''m trying to stay below $5,000, though I do have some budge room.

For 1 ct and above, I'd say you need about 4K for the stone.

Julie, for the whole ring, but it's not really a firm price, I can go up to $6,000, I don't want to break that, but I also won't settle for a poor quality stone. Thank you very much for your help Julie.

If you want a Ritani, don''t be afraid to look at I color, SI2, and stones a little under a carat.
