Hello All,

I am looking to purchase this antique style cushion diamond and I would love to hear your thoughts and/or concerns.

The stone is beautiful in person and is completely eye clean (despite being an SI2).

My main concern has to do with the Cut Grade of only a Good (4). I do not need an AGS Ideal or Excellent cut diamond but I am a little worried about how the lower cut designation actually manifests itself in the diamond (if at all). I understand that I should not get too wrapped up in the numbers and should trust my eyes, but I still cannot help but wonder if a slightly higher cut grade diamond will look much different/better.

What are people's thoughts on this diamond. ANY FEEDBACK, positive or negative will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I have attached the AGS Report but to summarize:

3.01 H (AGS 2.0)
SI2 (eye clean)
Cut Grade (AGS Good 4)
Light Performance (AGS Ideal 0)
Proportion Factors (AGS Good 4)
Polish (AGS Excellent 1)
Symmetry (AGS Good 3)

Also, please note that all of the black dots that you see on the diamond are caused by the copying machine and are not actually part of the diamond. The inclusions that are part of the diamond are the feathers/lines that you see at 12, 1 and 5 o'clock but you cannot see them with the naked eye.

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you all!!!

Need pictures of the diamond!

since it gets 0 for light performance I wouldn't be worried about that...did the asymmetry bother you in person? it's hard to tell from the report but on the computer-generated ASET it seems to have a slightly asymmetric outline?

Hi Diamondseeker!

I will work on getting photos. Will one snapped from my iphone be sufficient? Thanks!

Hi Slg!

I am sorry for the stupid question (I am still new to this) but what exactly do you mean when you asked if the asymerty bothered me? Thanks!

But they didn't say the cut was "good". They said the I'm going to defer to the previous poster and say symmetry was good, The cut is described by the light performance (i.e. perfect).

You seem to have this all covered. My only thoughts/ suggestions would be: did you consider if it has a culet. If you want to see one in an old cut and don't, it can ruin the way it looks. Honestly though, this isn't about your diamond specifically as much as it is about my culet obsession. I do think it's important to consider it in some "old" cuts.

Ok, it should, and does. Good. If none of the clarity issues is structural (i.e. something that could make your diamond break) and you've seen it and love it, I can't think of any reason why not.

+1 ...a bit culet obsessed myself!! ;)

Hi,

It actually has a rather large culet but I am fine with that!

If you saw it in person and loved it then I wouldn't worry

Yes, even a phone picture would be good if taken of the top of the stone so we cans see the symmetry. Light performance of 0 is great, but just be sure the diamond is pleasing to you as far as the symmetry goes. I do love a large culet, too!
