Hello all,

Here is a general question.. if you had the following two stones to choose frm which would you choose?

Stone 1: G SI1 with a HCA score of 2.0 (EX, VG, VG, VG)
Stone 2: H SI1 with a HCA score of 0.9 (EX, EX, EX, VG)

Also Stone 2 has ''very high'' scintillation and stone 1 has ''high'' scintillation on brilliancescope report and all other factors (such as price) are same.. oh and G Si1 has slightly better inclusions compared to H SI1.. This is for a pendant btw..

Thanks!!

First of all, I'm not sure.

Second of all, try this recipe for analysis I might follow:

a) review the info you shared
b) find a brick wall nearby, and hit my head against it
c) read again...have you seen these two? Do you have a preference? Conclude that's your best bet
d) reread, see that option 2 is maybe clearly better
e) read again, oops, you have some problem with the inclusions in #2? How much?
f) find brick wall again and use.

consider going back to step (c).

Cheers!

P.S. Get better advice...hopefully it will come.

I''m confused as to how this is supposed to be helpful to the OP.........?

Confused here too!!!

If you have B''scope results forget the HCA scores. Post the B''scopes if you''d like further educated input.

Sorry to be the distractor. Clearly Sunset''s question is more the point. Please consider addressing sunset, and not me. I could say I was trying to validate the reason for the writer''s ambivalence, but I had hoped that was more than obvious.

I already have addressed Sunset in PM as that''s how she contacted me this morning before posting this question.

I''m not trying to pick on you, RG.....I was truly confused by how this was supposed to be helpful and apparently missed your point entirely. I guess it wasn''t terribly obvious to me, which is why I asked for clarification.

Regular guy - I am stunned by your response and have nothing to say to you as it''s going to be a true waste of my time.

As for others.. thanks for responding.. I apologize if this question isn''t very clear.. either way I already made the purchase and I went w/ stone 2 (H SI1) because of it''s better HCA score and Brilliancescope information. I was hoping to just get some reassurance and your expert opinion...

Good for you sunset!!!

Ira meant no harm... just jumbled his words a bit. I''m sure he only wanted the best for you too.

Sunset,

Not sure what you regard as a complete waste of time exactly. You may best forego the rest of this as well.

In possibly related matters, I''d been accused of doing a peculiar analysis, and so perhaps the kind of question you raised is just a bit sensitive with me.

I''m sure you chose wisely, I take it from your last post you have not seen either stone, and, since you did elect a stone with lower color, and possibly not as good clarity....that you did so on the basis of data I am fond of, given the choice you had, though I might have first sought out a dandy appraiser to look at both stones, when they told me they might be inclinded to pick the one with better color, I might again have dashed my head into a brick wall, and made the same choice you did.

With best wishes to a swell weekend,
