I got an invitation to the RueLaLa Nicole Miller Boutique this morning (thanks to the invite from HouseCat & LAJennifer), and I''m sort of liking this dress. Just to be clear, I have not looked at ANY dresses yet, aside from the occasional browsing online, or in a magazine while waiting at the checkout (I must be missing the bride gene

). But I do like similar styles: simple, simple, simple!

Do you think this dress is formal enough for an evening wedding?

And, because this model is fairly small in the chest department, do you think it would nicely accommodate a 34 C-er, like myself (I don''t see how you can wear a bra)? I''m 5''10 (no shoes) and approximately 165lbs, so I''m not a stick like this chick, but I''m fairly proportioned. Ideally, I''ll lose 10-12lbs before the wedding, which we think will be in Fall-Holiday Season 2010.

Tell me what you guys think.

Thanks in advance!

I do think it is formal enough for evening, if you''re going for that old hollywood glamour feel.

Shop with caution though, Ruelala only gives merchandise credit for returns.

I''m loving the white mermaid gown right now. Only $650!!

The prices are certainly great!

I think it''s really gorgeous Bia! I''d just worry about the merchandise only return thing. And how comfortable do you feel without a bra?

I know, I think this one is only $250. I could even sell it if I''m not feeling it that much later...or if I find something better

I haven''t tried on anything yet, so I''m not sure what I want, I just know that I don''t want anything too ornate.

Love that dress, Bia!!

I think it''s perfect for an evening wedding.

Your taste in dresses is a lot like mine. So... you have excellent taste.

Don''t know much about the boobie sitch as mine aren''t as big as yours.

I sw that one and was going to suggest it to my friend it is beautiful and for the price I would risk it chances are you could sell it for the same amount of more :) - beautiful dress.

Hey, Bia! This is a great dress. I tried on a bunch of Nicole Miller dresses when I was picking out my dress. The good news is that they do scale them a bit for the bigger sizes. If you would order a larger size, it wouldn''t be cut as dramatically as it in on this model. Plus, you could also order a size bigger even, which would give alterations specialists more to work with.

As a word of caution, her dresses are not necessarily for modest brides. I am a top-heavy street-size 8 and pretty conservative when it comes to cleavage. I did feel a little exposed in some (but not all) of her dresses. On the other hand, as someone who also wanted overly simple, there are very few designers who make simple, elegant gowns and she pretty much spearheads the bunch. Plus, as someone who got her non-dream dress but one she really liked nonetheless, I personally appreciated having a larger budget for shoes, wedding bands, and other things I had limited to buy "the" dress. If you are even thinking you like it, I am fully confident you could recoup the cost via consignment or ebay.

Well, I hate wearing bras LOL

I can go without a bra, but I just wouldn''t want it to look too exposed, you know? Luckily my girls are in pretty high spirits still

I think it's really pretty and definitely formal enough.

I too wonder how you would feel not wearing a bra. I'd say if it's not something you regularly do, your wedding day isn't the day to start.
2.gif
I'd personally be ultra self conscious not wearing a bra, but I tend to be more on the modest side. Braless is a tough look for most larger breasted women to pull off, but you know your body better than we do.

ETA: Bia you posted while I was responding. heheh Seems you've answered my question.

You know, that''s a good idea!

I''m wondering if I should just go with it and see what''s what. $250 is not a lot to spend if it is wedding dress contender. And, if I don''t want to end up wearing it, I could sell it.

I would say to go for it! I also liked that mermaid gown for $650. Its gorgeous! How do you feel about that drop waisted gown? I think its also pretty.

I definitely think you could sell this dress if you end up not liking it. Its a great bargain.

Yea, I often will go braless when I go out at night...but usually those tops aren''t white lol.

I''m wondering if I''d be self-conscious wearing all white AND no bra...plus this model is small and while I don''t have huge boobs, they aren''t small.

It might be a wedding in Puerto Rico, if that makes a difference as far as being a little more daring...althought we haven''t decided yet.

I think its gorgeous, but for it to be formal enough for an evening wedding it would need some seriously fancy bling

I thought you said we were the same...what size cup are you?

Yay Bia! I smell some progress!!!

I think the dress is really elegant and it would totally suit a destination wedding. As for the bra-less debate...if you''re comfortable not wearing a bra and dancing around and such, then go for it...maybe you could buy those stickers that cover the you-know-whats or some other booby contraption they''ve invented these days. I don''t really know considering none of them would work for me anyway!

Sammy:
I''m trying to get some mental pictures down (you motivated me to at least start looking

). I am having a hard time though because I don''t know where the wedding is going to be yet. Really I don''t know anything about anything. Just that I''m getting married sometime late next year.
For Puerto Rico, at night, this would be really good I think...Hair up or down? No idea. I''m lost still...

Bia, I am right there with you sister. I LOVE the simple NM designs (see my other post!) and can''t seem to pass up this price. If we can recoup the costs, I say let''s go for it. If it doesn''t work, it doesn''t work, right????

All this excitement came out of getting a morning email!

I''m going to show my mother in a minute, and then I''ll decide for sure.

FWIW - I bought that same dress this morning on Rue La La!

I''m having a destination wedding, so I think it''ll be perfect. If you do have your wedding in Puerto Rico, this dress would be smashing! However, I think it would work in a variety of settings.

If I end up not liking this dress I have no problem either returning it for credit or selling it on ebay (I think I could make a profit).

I really like it. I think it''ll work well for any kind of wedding with the right accessories.

My friend went braless with a similar dress and you couldn''t tell. The lining on the inside of the dress hid everything well.

It's a matter of laziness Bia.

I don't like how "I really love it" sounds but I didn't feel like backspacing to take out the really so I just said like.

And now you know why it took FI six years to propose. I'm a hot mess.

I do love it though

. I want something similar for my very small wedding.

LOL (jk)

Crap! Do you think a size 10 would be too big??? They have no more 8.

That''s better.

(thank you)

FYI

I have returned two things to Ruelala, and I received a credit back to my credit card both times even though the web site says merchandise credit only. I was pleasantly surprised. I don''t know if they do that for all returns, but it is possible!

I don''t know what to do
32.gif

The smallest they have is a size 10. I''d need to have it taken in, but then I wouldnt be able to sell it...or could I ? I definitely can''t get a store credit.
