I''m taking my best friend diamond shopping tomorrow! I can''t wait to hit all my favorite pawn shops

I hope I don''t drive her too nuts

ooh, I should start a pawn shop deal of the day...today''s deal was a one carat channel set diamond band in yellow gold. Each diamond was 10 points, looking to be about H color and in the high SI clarity range (they were quite clean with my 30x loupe). Great cut, not perfect but nothing like the maul store. A grand total of $300

Can''t wait to pick it up tomorrow after it''s done being sized.

Sounds like fun! I hope you post pictures of what you buy! I''ve never been to a pawn shop before, now you''ve got me interested..

mmm, they''re like one giant treasure trove at very affordable prices. The ones I love to go to all buy higher quality pieces. One of the shop gals that I see on a regular basis bought a piece that has two half carat certified oval stones, one IF and one VVS2, both H colored with two small green diamonds set in white gold for $1,000. Makes me a bit sad to know that they paid about $500 to buy it off somebody else.

But, business is business.

That's what I'd have a hard time with. I just had this discussion with my family and my father (a business owner) falls into the business is business category--what a shocker lol.

The first diamonds I ever bought came from a pawn shop in
Reno via eBay back in 1996. Our local shops are grungy and only have post maul store pieces.

Oh have fun!!!!!! Sounds like a blast to me. Gosh I wishe there were great pawn shops like that around me!!! Bring your camera, we will want lots of pics!!!!

It was perfect today while we were shopping, we didn''t even need a coat as it was just a bit nippy. So, I get home, put stuff away and it starts snowing, heavy

Where did that come from?! Maybe I can get some photos tomorrow

I am so jealous you got to go shopping. I had planned to go with a couple today for their first diamond-shopping experience. I wanted to teach them what I know without overwhelming them...but I think I was more excited than they are! It snowed and I am a southern girl that stays home when it snows. Right now it looks like snow next weekend, too, so I am bummed. I hope they don't decide to go without me. If they bought a bad quality maul diamond I would be devastated....like it's all about me!
