Well folks, after weeks of reading posts about everyone''s beautiful rings and their wonderful stories of proposals, I can finally brag and share mine! I was so addicted to these forums, but in a way it was depressing me because I was anxiously waiting my turn to post that I was going to be the next Mrs. R! My bf (now fiance) had the ring sitting in his room for weeks, waiting for the perfect moment to be presented. I had picked out the setting and diamond with him and was afraid that it ruined everything. But let me start from the beginning.
We had met in August of 2003. I was fresh out of a 5 year relationship (an engagement at that) and was very nervous about getting back into the dating scene. So I guess you could call him a rebound.
I tried to take it slow at first (due to my past), but we connected pretty well and things just kept getting better and better. I fell in love fairly quick, but didn''t want to let him know. I was afraid that because I was fresh out of a relationship, it might be some sort of puppy-love instead of the real thing. So I decided to wait until he felt the same. He officially told me he loved me, I think July or August of 2004. Then in December, I flew up to Mohnton, PA to visit his family for Christmas. We stayed for approximately one week. One night while in PA, he said he wanted to talk to me. He explained to me that he realized that it was nearing time for him to settle down permanently. He said that he thought we had a great relationship and he loves me very much. He continued to say that even though he had just recently expressed his love for me, he decided that I was the one he wanted to marry. But he wasn''t quite ready to make such a big leap. But he reassured me that when he felt ready, he would proposed to me. So that''s when the waiting began.
About 3 months later, we started talking more and more about marriage. He was researching diamonds and looking at rings and even showed me some rings he had been looking at online. He came across this ring that he said he really liked. I LOVED IT.
But I just said it was really pretty. Then, when I was on one of my monthly trips to see my parents (they only live about 2 or 3 hours away), I showed my mom some of the rings that he was looking at. It was just for fun and to see what she liked as well. When I showed her the ring I loved, she said it was nice. But after a while she was saying she really liked it and the more she looks at it, the more she likes it. So I was on the phone with him that night and mentioned the fact that my mom really liked that ring. It was just conversation and I didn''t think anything would come of it. Next thing I know, he''s telling me he''s on the phone with the dealer! Then a short while later, he tells me he found a diamond and is having Rockdoc test it before he buys it. While the testing is in progress, he''s forwarding all the pictures and report from Rockdoc to me. I even had to pick the diamond up from the UPS holding facility! So of course I saw the setting and the diamond before it was put together. But once he had the diamond mounted, he refused to let me see it. It drove me nuts! I couldn''t even go into his bedroom because I couldn''t see the ring. So I''m waiting, and waiting, and waiting. And everyday that goes by is one more day that I''m going deeper into the depths of insanity!
My graduation was coming up (April 30th) and I noticed that the closer it came, the more nervous he was. So I guessed that he might do it at my graduation. I was graduating with a B.S. in Microbiology. Well, we got into a huge argument about a week before. It was such a huge fight that I was sure my chances of a proposal anytime soon went flying out the window. I was devastated. I thought he hated me and if he was going to stay with me and propose, it wouldn''t be for at least 6 months. But I just sighed and made the best of it... Now for the great part... Sorry if I put you to sleep already.
It was my last day of finals and I had been so stressed out the past week, so he mentioned going out for dinner to destress me. I thought it would be nice and quickly agreed. He took me to my favorite Italian restaurant (which we hadn''t been to since Hurrican Ivan) and we had a nice quiet dinner with great conversation (as usual). Then once we were finished, I thought we were going home to finish the night relaxing in front of the T.V. or something.... But he was driving in the opposite direction! I asked where he was going and he said he wanted to go some place to talk. A little perplexed, I said ok (you know it''s kinda scary when someone says they want to talk) and didn''t think anything of it after that. I honestly figured he wanted to finish a talk we had started a couple days earlier about our relationship and what we were going to do to fix a couple of bugs that had surfaced. Once we got to where he wanted to go, he seemed a little disappointed that it was closed. It was where we went on our first date after dinner and talked forever: a children''s memorial downtown on a pier overlooking the bay (it must''ve sustained some damage from the hurricane
). But there was a veteran''s memorial across the street in a park and I said "Why don''t we talk over there instead?" Still seeming a little disappointed, he said ok. So we''re walking and talking and ended up sitting at the main memorial. After still a long talk (with some revelations and some understandings) we got quiet. I guess we had run out of things to talk about, or we had resolved any issues that we had lately. So we''re sitting there, freezing, and he all of a sudden gets up, looks at me with this huge grin and gets down on one knee!! Then he asked me to marry him, while I''m sitting there going "You''re doing it now?!?!" I barely even heard him ask! I just kept looking at the ring! Then I finally said "Of course I''ll marry you!" and quickly put the ring on. Now that I think about it, I probably should''ve let him put it on me, but I was so excited, I wasn''t even thinking...WOW! The ring is absolutely gorgeous!
Anyway, it was vey sweet and beautiful. It was the moment I had been waiting so long to experience and in my opinion, it was perfect. I probably should''ve had a better reaction, but I was so surprised and was trying not to cry, so my mind was all a blur. I''ve never turned so stupid so fast. LOL

I absolutely LOVE the little surprise diamonds! Sorry the pictures didn''t show much of the fire that comes out of this ring, but I assure you that it is BLINDING in the sun!
My fiance saw the pictures and we both agree that they don''t do the ring any justice. It''s MUCH more beautiful in person. All my girlfriends are jealous and some are whining to their husbands that my ring is bigger and better than theirs.
It''s certainly feeding my fiance''s ego to hear that!
Well, now we''re planning our wedding together (he''s been helping me so much!) and we''ve developed a wedding website. As soon as I can, I''ll post the address.
Well, that''s my story and that''s my ring. I''m sure I missed things here and there, but if you happened to come up with any questions, feel free to ask. And sorry for such a LONG post.
