Well folks, after weeks of reading posts about everyone''s beautiful rings and their wonderful stories of proposals, I can finally brag and share mine! I was so addicted to these forums, but in a way it was depressing me because I was anxiously waiting my turn to post that I was going to be the next Mrs. R! My bf (now fiance) had the ring sitting in his room for weeks, waiting for the perfect moment to be presented. I had picked out the setting and diamond with him and was afraid that it ruined everything. But let me start from the beginning.

We had met in August of 2003. I was fresh out of a 5 year relationship (an engagement at that) and was very nervous about getting back into the dating scene. So I guess you could call him a rebound.
7.gif
I tried to take it slow at first (due to my past), but we connected pretty well and things just kept getting better and better. I fell in love fairly quick, but didn''t want to let him know. I was afraid that because I was fresh out of a relationship, it might be some sort of puppy-love instead of the real thing. So I decided to wait until he felt the same. He officially told me he loved me, I think July or August of 2004. Then in December, I flew up to Mohnton, PA to visit his family for Christmas. We stayed for approximately one week. One night while in PA, he said he wanted to talk to me. He explained to me that he realized that it was nearing time for him to settle down permanently. He said that he thought we had a great relationship and he loves me very much. He continued to say that even though he had just recently expressed his love for me, he decided that I was the one he wanted to marry. But he wasn''t quite ready to make such a big leap. But he reassured me that when he felt ready, he would proposed to me. So that''s when the waiting began.
14.gif

About 3 months later, we started talking more and more about marriage. He was researching diamonds and looking at rings and even showed me some rings he had been looking at online. He came across this ring that he said he really liked. I LOVED IT.
30.gif
But I just said it was really pretty. Then, when I was on one of my monthly trips to see my parents (they only live about 2 or 3 hours away), I showed my mom some of the rings that he was looking at. It was just for fun and to see what she liked as well. When I showed her the ring I loved, she said it was nice. But after a while she was saying she really liked it and the more she looks at it, the more she likes it. So I was on the phone with him that night and mentioned the fact that my mom really liked that ring. It was just conversation and I didn''t think anything would come of it. Next thing I know, he''s telling me he''s on the phone with the dealer! Then a short while later, he tells me he found a diamond and is having Rockdoc test it before he buys it. While the testing is in progress, he''s forwarding all the pictures and report from Rockdoc to me. I even had to pick the diamond up from the UPS holding facility! So of course I saw the setting and the diamond before it was put together. But once he had the diamond mounted, he refused to let me see it. It drove me nuts! I couldn''t even go into his bedroom because I couldn''t see the ring. So I''m waiting, and waiting, and waiting. And everyday that goes by is one more day that I''m going deeper into the depths of insanity!

My graduation was coming up (April 30th) and I noticed that the closer it came, the more nervous he was. So I guessed that he might do it at my graduation. I was graduating with a B.S. in Microbiology. Well, we got into a huge argument about a week before. It was such a huge fight that I was sure my chances of a proposal anytime soon went flying out the window. I was devastated. I thought he hated me and if he was going to stay with me and propose, it wouldn''t be for at least 6 months. But I just sighed and made the best of it... Now for the great part... Sorry if I put you to sleep already.

It was my last day of finals and I had been so stressed out the past week, so he mentioned going out for dinner to destress me. I thought it would be nice and quickly agreed. He took me to my favorite Italian restaurant (which we hadn''t been to since Hurrican Ivan) and we had a nice quiet dinner with great conversation (as usual). Then once we were finished, I thought we were going home to finish the night relaxing in front of the T.V. or something.... But he was driving in the opposite direction! I asked where he was going and he said he wanted to go some place to talk. A little perplexed, I said ok (you know it''s kinda scary when someone says they want to talk) and didn''t think anything of it after that. I honestly figured he wanted to finish a talk we had started a couple days earlier about our relationship and what we were going to do to fix a couple of bugs that had surfaced. Once we got to where he wanted to go, he seemed a little disappointed that it was closed. It was where we went on our first date after dinner and talked forever: a children''s memorial downtown on a pier overlooking the bay (it must''ve sustained some damage from the hurricane
7.gif
). But there was a veteran''s memorial across the street in a park and I said "Why don''t we talk over there instead?" Still seeming a little disappointed, he said ok. So we''re walking and talking and ended up sitting at the main memorial. After still a long talk (with some revelations and some understandings) we got quiet. I guess we had run out of things to talk about, or we had resolved any issues that we had lately. So we''re sitting there, freezing, and he all of a sudden gets up, looks at me with this huge grin and gets down on one knee!! Then he asked me to marry him, while I''m sitting there going "You''re doing it now?!?!" I barely even heard him ask! I just kept looking at the ring! Then I finally said "Of course I''ll marry you!" and quickly put the ring on. Now that I think about it, I probably should''ve let him put it on me, but I was so excited, I wasn''t even thinking...WOW! The ring is absolutely gorgeous!

Anyway, it was vey sweet and beautiful. It was the moment I had been waiting so long to experience and in my opinion, it was perfect. I probably should''ve had a better reaction, but I was so surprised and was trying not to cry, so my mind was all a blur. I''ve never turned so stupid so fast. LOL

I absolutely LOVE the little surprise diamonds! Sorry the pictures didn''t show much of the fire that comes out of this ring, but I assure you that it is BLINDING in the sun!
31.gif
My fiance saw the pictures and we both agree that they don''t do the ring any justice. It''s MUCH more beautiful in person. All my girlfriends are jealous and some are whining to their husbands that my ring is bigger and better than theirs.
16.gif
It''s certainly feeding my fiance''s ego to hear that!

Well, now we''re planning our wedding together (he''s been helping me so much!) and we''ve developed a wedding website. As soon as I can, I''ll post the address.

Well, that''s my story and that''s my ring. I''m sure I missed things here and there, but if you happened to come up with any questions, feel free to ask. And sorry for such a LONG post.

All the dates in my story are approximated, but I think I''ve got it pretty close. I also forgot to mention that my ring size is 4.5 (the ring is 5 though) and the proposal date was April 28th. It falls right in the middle of my parent''s wedding anniversaries. Their original wedding anniversary is on the 29th and they renewed their vows for their 25th anniversary on the 27th. He totally didn''t plan it that way because I never told him when their anniversaries were. It''s just really great timing on his part. It took over 3 weeks of pure will-power for me not to sneak a peek at that ring. I''m so glad that stress is gone!

I''ve been thinking about the wedding band. I don''t want to take attention away from the e-ring, so I was thinking of going with two 2-mm platinum bands (one on top and one on bottom): Possible wedding bands

I have a while to decide, but I think it would be hard to find a diamond wedding band to match or one that would fit flush with ring (the band is so rounded!). My mother agreed with me that a diamond band might be too much for my little hands. Besides, the e-ring was super expensive to begin with, I don''t want to spend too much on the wedding band too. But hey, I''m open to all suggestions!! Give me some ideas ladies (and gentlemen! If you have some ideas, speak up!)! What do you think will look good with this ring?
33.gif

What a sweet story, and what a beautiful ring!
30.gif
It looks great on your hand!

Heartiest congratulations to both of you!

WOW, CONGRATULATIONS!!! You must be SO excited and I have to admit, I am right were you were before April 28th... and green is not a good color on me!

I agree with you and your mom, the more I look at the ring, the more I like it-and it looks HUGE on your tiny finger! The setting really makes the center stone stand out!

I was also glad to hear that you loved the proposal even though you knew the ring was there-my bf and I are researching/finding/evaluating loose diamonds and settings together and I was unsure of what the actual question would feel like since I already know...I know it will be special even though I know-and probably more so because I will really appreciate that he got me EXACTLY what I wanted!

Not sure on the wedding band thing, I am still too wrapped up in getting a ER, LOL!

What a sweet proposal and I LOVE your ring!
30.gif

Is that a Verragio setting?
I want one just like it!!

I don''t think it''s a Varragio setting. As a matter of fact, I don''t think there''s any particular designer''s name attached to this setting.

One of my girlfriend's has a very similar setting. Hers is in yellow gold and does not have the surprise diamonds. She has an oval instead of a round. Personally I think yours is prettier.
2.gif

Congratulations!

And that 0.75ct looks big on your finger!

Oh -- I forgot to add that my girlfriend wears hers as a stand alone ring. She bought a band with baguettes that is almost an identical match to the e-ring but she thought it was too much b/c the band was rather wide. So she wears that on her right hand and the e-ring on her left. Sometimes she doesn't wear the e-ring and wears the band on her left hand.

I think it''s beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.

Your ring is gorgeous!!! Congratulations on your engagement!! What a sweet story....
30.gif

What a perfect ring and story to go with it! Congratulations to you both!

That is some serious sparkle you''ve got there. A beautiful setting and ring. I think it''s great that you were able to be surorised by his proposal despite suspecting it was coming for a while...

Congratulations on your engagement

but also on your BS degree!

Congrats on the engagement and graduation! Your ring looks really special and I''m sure even the nice photos here don''t do it justice.

Your fiance, he''s definately a keeper!

No ideas?
33.gif

Well, the 2nd thought that came to my mind (the first was WOW, what a great ring) was that it looks very substantial on your finger. If you want a band too, I think one would look better than two and the thinner the better. Your going to have a bit of a gap between the band(s) and ring and it may look like too much of a good thing. Try on some bands to get a feel. I do think the ring can stand alone without a band if your''re comfortable with the idea.

I was thinking if I went with the two bands, they would be the 2 mm bands. Too thick?

The ring is absolutely beautiful! Congrats!

Well folks, the planning has begun! We''ve made a wedding blog and wedding website for everything:
Jenn and Drew''s Wedding Blog
Jenn and Drew''s Wedding Website at WeddingChannel.com

He''s been so helpful so far! It''s a long ways away, but with both of us being so busy all the time with work and me with school (I''m working towards another B.S. degree!) we wanted to get a head start.

I''m still waiting for those wedding ring ideas!!

I would go try some on to see what looks good with your beautiful ering, then once you know what looks good we can help you out!!!

I''m having trouble getting in touch with a Chubb agent now. There is only one listed within a 100-mile radius of my location. Does anyone know if I HAVE to go with a local agent or if there''s a good agent I can get in touch with outside of my area?

BTW... THANKS FOR ALL YOUR COMPLIMENTS!

I can''t stop staring at this ring.
21.gif
I''m so paranoid over it too. I keep checking to see if all the diamonds are still there!
32.gif

I just found this in the eye candy folder on pg 6. This looks like my girlfriend''s wedding band. Maybe a possibility? It probably won''t sit flush with yours since you have the surprise diamonds however.
