UPDATE: THE RINGS HAVE BEEN FOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so happy to report that my 4 year old daughter found my rings! I got a call Saturday morning from my husband, telling me that she wanted to tell me something. (I was out of town this weekend). She said 'Mommy, if found your ring!' in the most excited and proud tone I may have heard her use yet! She knew how sad I was about it, so she was SO proud to save the day! She found it in our nearly 4' long shag carpet in the living room. The carpet I had combed through with my fingers VERY carefully but somehow I missed it! When she found it, my husband started digging and digging in the carpet for now that 3rd or 4th time and found my little plat band. Woohoo! No earring discovery, but that was already covered. I just want to thank every person who listened to my problem and gave such wonderful advice! I read every one of them just now, my very first opportunity to get online since leaving town Friday, I had missed a lot of them since leaving town Friday, and I was so touched and thankful for all of the support and advice. THANK YOU fellow PS'ers!!!

p.s. Late Friday my husband called me, on my way out of town, to report that he had gone to see our insurance agent and MUCH to our shock and amazement, she assurred us that it would be covered, but that we'd most likely be dropped after that. Thankfully it is a personal articles policy, so it wasn't like we would lose our house policy or cars or anything. She told him maybe I should stash the new ring in a safety deposit box for a few years at which point they would pick us back up. Thankfully none of that is necessary now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But wanted to add that for anyone who may read this post later, in the same panic and shock I was in when this happened---maybe it's at least a bit reassurring
!

Woo - Hoo!!!

So happy for you Jenn, how cute of your daughter..

I just wanted to clarify for anyone reading this and concerned about their insurance - it is no surprise what your agent has said in the above high lighted part. Infact, if your Ins Co had refused to replace it, they would have been in violation of their contract with you.

As Wink mentioned earlier, it is well within your rights, as long as you have the appropriate cover, to claim as many times as you need. Of course, they may decide not to re new your term, but this should not discourage people from making honest claims.

Anyway, back to the important part - Yayyy!!!

Oh, Jenn, that is fantastic news! My heart ached for you when I read your first post. And it''s so wonderful that your 4-year-old can feel such a sense of accomplishment over finding the rings! What a great thing for her also.

I am so sorry to hear this Jenn, but everyone on the board has given some great suggestions and is wishing you alot of luck!

yay, a happy ending!

Jenn -

I''m so happy your rings have been found!! I lost a loose diamond in the grass while trying to take pictures yesterday and finally found it this morning after about 10 hours of searching. Definitely know the panic and sadness you have been feeling!

One note for your earings or in the future, try a vacuum with an attachment hose on it. Use a pair of nylons to cover the end (they will suck down in) and then vacuum using the nylon covered attachment. Maybe you can find your earings in the carpet too.

YAY, how wonderful your daughter found your rings!! She sounds delightful and I can just imagine the proud look on her face. I think though, a new storage location is in order. One VERY high up.

Yayayayay!! That is GREAT news!!!

I just knew you would find them. I had a good feeling about this turning out well, and I''m happy that it did (and quite soon, too.)

Your children sound soo adorable :-)

*HAPPY DANCE!!!!*

oh thank heaven

Well, I didn''t know who better to reach out to for moral support than my fellow PS''ers. In just over a 24 hour period one of my diamond studs AND my engagement ring went missing
39.gif
............we know who the culprit is.......our precious 2 year old son.
23.gif
I know, you''d think ''surely it''ll turn up''. Well, after more tears shed than I like to admit, and after an EXHAUSTIVE search by myself and my husband we have still not found it. I''ve gone through MOUNDS of trash, taken apart all of the sink traps, you name it. The earrings were upsetting enough, but then to have my 1.82 ct. RB WF classic tiffany knife edge go missing a day later was almost more than I''m able to handle. I''m TRYING with all my might to remind myself that it''s just material possessions, that I have my health and family and I know that is most important. But I''m telling y''all, I am GREIVING over this ring especially. He managed to run off with my 2mm platinum band, too, but that''s a drop in the bucket compared to the solitaire. It''s just so baffling that he has done SOMETHING with a half carat princess stud, a band AND the solitaire and we can NOT figure out what??????? We are 99.99999999% sure he didn''t ingest these items. If for a second we thought that was even likely I''d of coarse be more concerned with HIS health than sitting here whining about missing my diamonds.......but the ring is substantial and he''s past the ''put it in your mouth'' age. He has given me puppy dog eyes every time I ask what he did with them and he just holds out his hand as if to show me ''I HAD them, but I don''t know where they went''. I''ll try to end this on a ''bright side'' comment. I did locate my eternity band in the sink..........so I do have that ring left. I am literally PRAYING that we''ll find the engagement ring at least.............in the mean time, I''m trying to let go of these prized possessions and move on. There is no way we can shell out $8-10k right now to replace these items. My original e-ring was already replaced by insurance when the diamond broke, so I can''t imagine my insurance company is going to cover this. I''m leaving town today to go to a weekend-long birthday celebration for my very best friend. I HAVE to suck it up and put on a good face for this, average (normal...) people would NOT understand why I am in this emotional state when I say ''it''s over diamonds''........Ok, just throw me a bone and a little pat on the back and I''ll get out of y''alls hair for awhile, I can hardly bare to look at all of this beautiful bling at the present time.

When you said you had found it I BREATHED A SIGH OF RELIEF...just as if it was my own ring!I know how devistated i would be if i lost my diamonds...very happy for you...and remember that this would have been a true loss and not just another mere possession!

Oh Jenn,
What great news this is!!! Yay for your daughter!! You must be thrilled!!! I love happy endings!!!

Heh heh, candy bar indeed.

Alright, I''ll say it. Now that you know the carpets are suspect:
(1) Put a new bag on the vacuum,
(2) Vacuum the entire house as if it''s the biggest "Spring Cleaning" of your life, i.e. three passes over each area, move your furniture around, move the chairs, sofas, tables, etc.,
(3) Remove bag, cut open, and dig through the picked-up debris. You might just get that stud back yet!!

Congratulations on the big find! Great news indeed!

You guys are all so sweet! I feel like everyone was rooting for me to find it and that means so much! Those few days really took it out of me emotionally.........I was just SICK over it! No stud yet, but it''s covered so no worries. We only have a very small amount of carpet in our house, and it happens to be the lovely almost 4" shag (new shag.......not 30 year old shag
3.gif
) so we can ONLY use an attachment to vaccum it to begin with. And we have done it 2 times since finding the ring and then dug through the bag.......still no stud.......remember the other earring, and both backs, I found in my bedroom and bathroom, away from the carpet in the living room where the lost rings were. My eternity band was in the sink if you recall, and that''s what I''m figuring happened to the stud..........OH WELL, believe me, I was sick over the VERY-poor-quality-.5ct-stud.........UNTIL I lost my gorgeous 1.82 ct. ering!!!!!!!! Even if the stud is never found, I feel SO lucky to have found the ring. The stud was covered, we claimed it, no problem, insurance agent took the other stud for salvage and said GO SHOPPING.
9.gif
We have really been impressed with our personal article policy from State Farm.
36.gif
But I pray I never have to claim another piece of jewlery as long as I live. I know "that''s what it''s for", but I am just the type of person that forever feels guilty somehow!
40.gif
I have gone back to using my jewlery box and it''s HIGH on a shelf in our closet!

YAY, YAY, YAAAAAAAAAAAY! Happy Dance for you and your daughter for finding your rings! What a splendid ending!

My daughter isn''t much for candy.......I know, STRANGE!!!!! She''s into her artwork, so I went and got her a new Disney Princess paint set. :) And a new princess jump rope to boot. She was and still is quite proud to "save the day". I''m sad to say that she saw me get WAY too upset over the ring being lost........I was so distraught that she was in tears........not a good job on my part keeping it together in front of the kids......but it was so nice to see her pride and excitement over finding the ring for me.
36.gif

Jenn, I''m so SO happy your daughter found your rings! I felt so awful readong your story, and I am soooooooo happy it''s been found in the shag!

Oh that''s such FANTASTIC news!!!!! Kudos to your daughter! Now you can breathe easy!
maybe have one of these

Hi Jenn,
I am so sorry to hear about this. I can really feel for you. I hope you''ll find it. Keep looking and don''t give up. Perhaps one day it will show up. But worst comes worst, I think the insurance company would cover it even though you had it replaced before. Good luck! I''ll pray for you.

Linda
