I''ve found a diamond that I tried to run the percentages on the HCA based on a very poor quality GIA report. I have the GIA # which is 14921540, but the copy of the report is pretty fuzzy. From what I could read it''s rated as a 4.6

Here''s what I can read from the report:

Round Brilliant
1.51
color : K
VS2
7.35 x 7.40 - 4.58
Girdle TN - STK/F
Depth % 62.1
table % 56
Cutlet - N
Polish - VG
Symmetry - VG
Fluor - none

It''s not a bad price, but I''m not sure.

Thanks!

Crown and pavilion angles please? I will try and get the report....

Here you go

I would pass personally, very steep pavilion angle will entrap the tint from the K colour plus leakage is likely and it is a bit small for the weight.

I think the crown is 34.5 and pav is 41.4, like I said it''s a poor copy.

Thanks Lorelei, I thought that might be the case

Yes, those are the measurements on the report link above which is clear, not the best proportions and that pavilion angle undesirable particularly with that colour.

In my experience, a pavilion angle of 41.4 degrees is pretty steep and will have a negative impact on visual performance. Try to keep the total depth of the diamond between 59 - 61.8% with a crown angle between 34.3 - 34.8 degrees offset by a pavilion angle between 40.6 - 40.9 degrees. Note that the pavilion angle is the critical reflective surface, so if something has to give let it be the crown angle, but just a little like somewhere between 34.0 - 35.0 degrees.

Thanks Todd....that helps me out. Ya know the more I look at the color range J -O the more I like what I see!

Diamond color is definitely a matter of personal preference! Personally I''m partial to diamonds in the D - I color range; my fiance Valerie is partial to D/E color diamonds because they look crisp and cool to her; my mother tends to lean towards diamonds in the L/M/N color range because she likes a warmer looking diamond... The nice thing is that diamonds come in a variety of shades and colors and you get to choose the range of color that appeals to you! And of course, the exceptional dealers here on PS are happy to help you try and find the combination of carat weight, color and clarity that you''re looking for!
