I brought my stone mounted into the b&m today to look at it through the ASET. After viewing for a while, she was impressed, I was fine until gemologist took it to the back to steam it, she was gone for 45s to 1.5 min. Can a stone be switched in that time? First purchase and I think I''m going nuts. I love it though. I''ll post photos soon.

Does the stone appear different to you? And if so in what way?

How does the ASET look after she cleaned it?

I didn''t look at in the aset afterwards. I did look at it under the scope but the stone is too new and I''m a novice to tell. I hope I''m just being silly. I''m assuming it also takes some time to steam clean?

Yes.

To put this into perspective, most jewellers are hardworking individuals who highly value their good name, although there are some bad apples as in everything most will not think of risking their reputation over a customer's diamond. I would not worry but if you can't move past this then take the diamond to an independant appraiser and get them to verify it matches the report. The appraiser should also be able to show you how to indentify your diamond so that next time you leave it you will know your stone.

Yes, it takes some time to steam clean a ring.

Thank you all for your help. The anxiety or the proposal and the search for the stone finally caught up with me. Thank you settng me straight. I lost it for a bit. I believe I saw the gemologist walk away with it and that's all I could remember. I was stuck. The reason I took it to this particular place is cause I trust them and I make my watch purchases there. I spent an hour with the gemologist looking through the ASET and microscope. Tuis was before she steamed cleaned it and another 20 afterwards. If any of you haven't already viewed your stone under a microscope, it's absolutely beautiful. The inclusions listed on the report were only visible at 30x and faint at that,Two crystals, the cloud was barely visible at all. The stone is mounted so the ASET was incomplete but from what we saw it had a well defined pattern and looked good. M very happy with the stone only made possible from what I learned on this sight andthe help I received. Thank you all again and I apologize for my mini breakdown. Yes, that's what it was. 8 months of planning, researching and fussing caught up to me.
