Hello,
I wonder if you can give me some advice about the purchase of a 1.01 carat round brilliant cut engagement ring. It is a G colour, SI2 but having seen the IGI certificate, my fiance and I were disappointed to learn that the cut is fair.
The jeweller (who we know personally) assures us that it is a good diamond and that he would place more importance on other aspects of the symmetry and depth rather than the overall cut quality but given the research I've done online I'm unsure whether to accept this and would be grateful for some feedback!
We're in the UK and have checked on the Blue Nile website where I can see that we can get a diamond with a similar spec but in a very good or ideal cut for the same money as the fair cut one that this jeweller would like to sell us.
I can post the full details later including symmetry and table percentage etc. if this would be of use.
Thanks for your help!
