I ordered mine thru Amazon yesterday, and it will be here tomorrow. I''m so pumped!! However, I''m worried that FI may have set up a hidden camera in the living room, since this will be an "in-house" workout... very, very mean

So I did the work out yesterday and I have to say I thought it would be more difficult. I read so many reviews about it kicking @ss, and it was tough, but not excrutiating. I am sore today though. I did a chest exercise on Tuesday and I was sore before I started the work out but now I am really really sore. I will do it again today though. I am going to try 7 days a week for 30 days to see if there is a difference. I will watch my diet too, not overly but I will watch what I eat. I don''t really have much weight to lose, just toning really and a tummy pooch.

Has anyone done this DVD and seen results? Any before and after pictures?

Me too! I ordered mine from Amazon (you can''t beat $10) and it''s supposed to arrive today!! I''m excited.

I''m actually trying not to lose weight - the store sample of my wedding dress fit like it was made for me - but it''s really important for me not to gain weight like I did last year (I gained 10 pounds, in law school). I''d also love for my arms and back to be toned by my wedding date...

Well I did 0.5 hours a day of cardio for a LONG time, so I *thought* I would find it really easy.

But I tried the video, and the strength stuff just knocked me on my butt. Really, I was dizzy after, and I was using only 3 pound weights! I have to admit, I am considering exchaning those wieghts for 2 pound ones. I was only able to do 15 minutes of cardio after the level 1 workout, because I felt like I was going to collapse! I am SO DREADING tomorrow, because I have to do it again. Well at least I know my weakness is strength training...

Can you get this DVD in Australia?! I am considering surgically stapling my mouth shut until the wedding
40.gif
Haha! Honey you''re hilarious :) That is SUCH an Aussie thing to say! Gotta love our warped sense of humour...

Where are you in Australia?

p.s. I love your ring

Hooray! I did workout 1 this morning. Wow - the strength training was tough!
I kinda want to do it again right now, but that''s probably a bad idea...

Can''t wait to try 2 & 3.

So I''m going to buy the DVD but need some advice. I rarely ever work out anymore (I used to be super in shape, but then college and the real world happened and I''ve totally stopped). I just joined a gym again and am getting back into working out, but I thought I''d get the DVD too so I can do some at home during the winter if I want to.

Anyway, my question is- should I get 2lb or 3lb weights? Let me know ASAP what you think and I''m off to submit my order! Thanks

I haven''t started yet, but I would get 3lb weights, and then 5lb weights for when your strength builds up. However, that is me, and I am very athletic.

Hey GoingCrazy29,
I am not an expert, so choose what you see fit, but I would go with 3lb weights.

The strength training is a killer - and woah my legs are pretty sore today. I am trying ot figure out how I am going to make it through the video today, but I keep reminding myself its only 25min

yes I do this EVERY day!!!!! It kicks my butt!! I am still on level 2, I tried level 3 once and I was dying. I am going to try again in a week...4 weeks til our wedding today so I don''t have much more shape up time!!

I''m so glad everyone else loves it too...I just find it is SO effective, fast, and to the point. I am SO much more toned than I was a month ago and just all around more fit. And I''m not sick of it!!

Just wondering how its going for everyone. I''m picking up my copy today and would like to hear how the "newbies" are digging it. I''m really excited to try it. I''m thinking every other day with swimming/walking in between.

Oh man, so I''ve done level 1 twice, and it was a great workout both times. I was really sore after the first time, but felt pretty good after the 2nd. This morning I got adventerous and decided to try level 2. I went all out and was doing great until the end - I just COULD NOT hold myself up in plank position a second longer, so I ended up having to skip the last ab section. I barely made it through the last strength section - those squats and V-flies were killer. I could barely lift my arms to wash my hair afterwards. I''ll probably rotate between 1 and 2 until I''m strong enough to do 2 all the way through. I think I''ll have to watch 3 to see what she does before I dare try it!

Tacori: you still doing this? I need to get fitter faster!! I''m so sick of my belly!

You brides are awesome...brides always have the 411 on the latest & greatest. Enjoy your time ladies! I wish I could do it again!!!! Oh well....there''s always vows to renew!!!

Oh NO!!! I remembered this thread while @ Target yesterday but I ended up with her POWER SCULPT dvd. Damn!! I wonder if I should return it! They didnt have the shred one, they had power sculpt and cardio max or something!! Does anyone know anything about Power Sculpt? I want to lose about ten lbs and tone my muscles! Might still be okay for me!

I looked for it in Target tonight...they had others by Jillian for $14.99 but not shred. So I skipped it & came home & ordered it online at target.com for 9.99---2day shipping was $5. regular shipping was $2-something.

I read the reviews on it and it sounds perfect for a busy mommy. I''ll let you guys know how I do. I WISH I was as thin as my wedding day. Ahh...what a glorious, thin, fabulous time. LOL.

Oh yes, level 3 is ridiculous!! I tried it once and there was no way I was making it through. I can do level 2 without trouble anymore (by trouble I mean I don''t have to stop, but it definitely is still kicking my butt) and I''ve been doing it for like 45 day straight. I take a day off every once in awhile but since the workout is so fast I feel like I can commit to it every day. That last section really is killer...the squats and v flies kill me every time!! My fiance was napping while I worked out last night (oh to be a man) and he came out like "are you okay!!!?" because I started yelling a little bit during the last few v flies...hahaha!!

Just wondering if you have noticed quite a difference yet?

Ok, I've done level 1 once (start again today after work), and started with 5 lb weights. LOL!!! Embarassing to say the least, I switched to 2 books that I grabbed off my bookshelf until I can go buy some 3 lb weights.

The only thing I worry about is, I am a big fan of different circuits and I kind of wish that there were 2 or 3 different workouts for each level. Has anyone else gotten tired of the same routine at each level?

i am not a bride in waiting but i just ordered this DVD based upon everyones rave reviews! I cant wait to get it in the mail. I actually just picked up her book this past weekend but havent had a chance to really dive in a read it with school work!

I cant wait!

I just got done doing it about 5 minutes ago. (My dvd came today). I guess I''m in pretty good shape, because I did not find Level 1 excruciating at all, but I have to admit, I was struggling with the last few of each strength section (which is the point) and during the chest flyes & lunges/biceps, I could have gone up to 5lbs....but I definitely am not ready for anything heavier than 3lbs on the side lunges/anterior raises, or squats/presses. My shoulders are weak. I had to do the pushups on my knees though, so I will say that Level 1 is a challenge for me.

At any rate-- I like how she talks to you during it & its good for a busy person to squeeze in. I already get cardio 3 to 4 times a week, and I''m still pudgy...so I''m going to do it for 30 days and see what happens. Its MORE resistance training than I''m doing now, so anything should be an improvement.

I''m going to up my weights on a couple sections of Level 1 tomorrow, and do as many pushups on my toes as I can before dropping to my knees.

I won''t move to Level 2 until I can do those things a little easier.

:-)

Oh I forgot, to combat soreness, just put a cup or two of plain old Epsom salts in a warm bath & soak for 20 mins. It will take all the soreness out. Seriously. Magic.

I get my bags from the drugstore or Costco. When I took my yoga certification course (many 8hour days of straight yoga) we did that so we didn''t die. :-)

I am so happy!!

Thank you Muffindowd for turning me onto this DVD!! I lost 2.5 lbs in one week & broke my plateau!

Here''s my take on Shred so far: (I''m a certified Group Exercise instructor by the way...cycling, yoga, step, salsa etc)

I''ve had it since Thurs & done it every day.

I''m using 5lb & 8lb weights. (i''m strong. LOL)

I did level 1 for 2 days, and Level 2 for 2 days. She says when you are comfortable with a level to move on to the next one.

What I found was...

Level one was challenging to me because you have to do pushups. I can''t do full pushups yet, and do them on my knees instead (which is the modification she shows/allows).

Level two was a different sort of challenging, but easier for me except for one of the moves (chair squats with v flies...I can barely get through those). I thought the walkout pushups were a piece of cake (probably all my yoga training, anything in plank come easy to me) since you just bend over, walk your hands out to push up position, lower down & come back up & then walk your hands back. Easy for me.

So today I''m going to do level one again, and see if I''ve improved on my pushups. I intend to start out doing full pushups -- as many as I can ---before dropping to my knees.

My big worry is overtraining, although the weights are light enough that its probably impossible to do, but because I know too much, I worry about overtraining & don''t want to do the same workout DAYS in a row. So I figure this week I''ll structure it something like this:

Mon- Level 1
Tue- Level 2
Wed - Level 3
Thu -Level 2
Fri - Level 1

Even though each level is supposed to be progressively harder (and it is) you can make the first level more challenging my adding more weights when ready or doing full pushups (as in my case).

I''ve heard level 3 is a killer, so I''ll see how I do Weds with it, and then see if I can do it again on the weekend...and hopefully next week do it a few more times.

But I know enough about exercise, that I can make each level equally challenging by adjusting how heavy a hand weight I use. I have a huge rack of weights..from 5lbs to 60lbs. I love them.

You''re absolutely right about level 2...some of it is absolutely ridiculously hard and then the walk out pushups are definitely a piece of cake. I have had a lot of yoga training too and I find the same thing you have found...the walk out pushups are much easier than a classic pushup (what she has you do in level 1), but oh man, the different walking pushups in level 3 are a KILLER. Let me know how you feel after level 3!! I am going to try it again this week, I have been sticking with level 2, but I add the weights in when I do jumping jacks to make it more difficult. I twisted my ankle a little bit at work on Friday and I was sick all last week so I haven''t been sticking to it the way that I was, but I have definitely seen a lot of results! I am stronger and more fit, my clothes fit better, and everyone keeps telling me how I look so skinny. Our wedding is in 16 days so I better kick it into high gear!! I want to try level 3 again but I am literally scared. Haha!!

So I just got this DVD yesterday (BTW, I got it at Borders for a list price of 14.99. It comes with a free subscription to Fitness magazine, and if you don''t want that, you can send in the card that comes with it and get a rebate of 5.49 or something, so the DVD ends up being less than 10!) I haven''t started yet, but plan on doing so this evening. I need to get some lighter weights as all I have are 10 lbs.

I have a personal trainer here in Nashville who is a former contestant on the Biggest Loser, and her trainer was Jillian, so I''m expecting the workouts to be a lot like the workouts with my trainer! She actually recommended that I buy this DVD, in addition to training with her, so I''m looking forward to results!

Oo! I just got this DVD last night and did my first workout on level 1 this morning! I stuck with most of the easier/ modified versions since I''m basically a beginner. It''s been so long since I''ve done a real workout. This was pretty killer. I watched the whole workout before I did it and wondered if it was really going to be tough on me, but then as I actually did the workout I was dying by the end, but I sort of felt a second wind and it felt really good. But I couldn''t finish the cool down because I was also getting dizzy almost faint, had to run and get some water and just relax. I''m excited to go through this with you guys! My plan is to do it before work everyday, hopefully I get myself out of bed with enough time to do it. Oh, and I only used 2 pound weights. ha! I feel like a weakling with all of you using 5 or 8 lbs weights! The side lunges where you lifts you arms out straight were so tough by the end.

My goals are to 1 - feel fit and in shape, 2- lose a few lbs (pants & skirts have been starting to feel too tight this year
3.gif
), and 3- get a few muscles toned.

If you workout in the morning, do you guys eat before or after your exercise? I only drank OJ before I worked out, so I''m thinking that''s why I was feeling a little faint. I don''t want to get cramps or anything if I eat too much before working out. What do you think?

I workout after lunch while my kids are napping. So I''m fueled. I don''t like working out on an empty stomach, so I''ll eat a piece of toast w/pnut butter a half hour before I work out if I do it in the morning.

Muffindowd: I have just done day 3 of level 3 and OWWWWW....

So here is my take on level 3.

The walking pushups are FUN! hard, but fun! I still think the level 1 straight pushups are harder.

jumping squats? Jumping lunges? Jumping jehosephats!!! Good god my legs ache!

the up down plank thingie? Ow..my core be burnin!

The clean squat things are EASY. I use a 15lb weight for those.

Love the ab workout. ow ow ow.

rockstar jumps...I hate Jillian at that point...although today I did ALL of them.

I think I''m going to do level 2 tomorrow just to shake it up. I don''t want to do the same workout everyday, but I wanted to get stronger in level 3.

I dunno, I''m thinking...

tues: level 2
weds: level 3
thurs: level 1
Fri: level 3
Sat: level 2
and so on and so forth...so alternating levels 1&2, but keeping that level 3 workout on every other day for another 10 days or so.

I''m on day 10....I skipped y''day...(my knees were achy--and I taught 3 cycling classes this week, so I feel like I earned it) but my butt already feels tighter. I can really see a difference in my legs already.

Hey all...I am ordering this ASAP. I also read the following on a sparkpeople''s blog.

My husband just met Jillian Michaels this weekend at a convention. She is apparently gorgeous in real life. Anyway, for those of you who want to change it up...in October she is actually coming out with a bootcamp video game workout for the Nintendo Wii. It differs from a DVD cause it''s also a game so you end up working out and competing. Just a thought if anyone has the Wii and wants to get a little bit of a different workout in.

I am wanting the WII fit so badly as well. This sounds great too! YEAH!!!!!

When I first started doing the workout every day I noticed my knees got really achy too!! I just took a day off here and there and now they''re absolutely fine. I have still been sticking with level 2...I am a creature of habit and it''s just still hard for me!! It''s such a great workout. I''m so glad so many of you are enjoying my recommendation!! It''s definitely not easy, but I love that it''s fast and difficult enough that I really feel worked out, but in under 30 minutes!!

and PS, my butt, legs, and everywhere are soooo much tighter than when I started!! My fiance loves to grab my butt anyway, but he''s been doing that extra lately ;D

Hey everyone! Anyone keeping up with this DVD? I just started this week and I loves it!!

I was scared to order it - I watch Biggest Loser religiously and Jillian is a maniac! But I finally did and I find it to be a lot of fun and a great workout in only 20 mins. I''m a runner and do yoga but I wanted to really tone up and I think this is the ticket!

My wedding is still a year away, but I''m going to Cabo for a friend''s wedding in 6 weeks. I''m hoping this video gets me in bikini shape.
Thanks for the recommendation...its great!!
