hello,

i have the following on hold @ whiteflash:
#1: http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-1090858.htm#

...and i just came across this stone at good old gold:
#2: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4498/

the interesting thing is that #1 doesn''t have an AGS cut grade, and performance is a 1 in the HCA tool.

#2 has ''ags ideal 0'' as the cut grade in the report, yet performs as a 2.1 in the HCA

.

the idealscopes of both these look good - to my novice eye.

help!!

Both look really nice online. You''d have to see them in person to know which you would prefer...

Both diamonds look great, the HCA isn't used for selection and a lower score isn't better than a higher one, generally diamonds which score 2 and below are then considered worth further evaluation with Idealscope, vendor input etc. The GOG diamond's pavilion angle hits 41 degrees and the HCA can penalize a diamond for that, but it is a lovely diamond - no worries!

If you do decide to pursue the GOG diamond, check it is eyeclean to your standards by asking Jon or another staff member. Either stone could be an excellent choice going by the info we have.

If money were no object, and it was eyeclean, I''d get the GOG stone. Nice size, and somewhat rare.

But, you could not go wrong with either one.

thanks for such quick responses!

#2''s cut is rated as ideal 0, where as #1 isn''t on the the ags report (however the sarin report of #1 states it''s a 0). this is still confusing me :)

GOG has confirmed that #2 is eyeclean - it took sara around 20 seconds to find the cloud & crystal through a loop

Both of these look very nice! For me it would come down to size vs price. Are you willing to shell out almost $1000 for the almost 0.2ct difference? I wouldn't be, so I'd stick with the WF stone. But I really don't think you can go wrong with either.

I'm not sure why the AGS report doesn't include the cut grade though! Ask WF?

ETA: I see the WF stone is listed as sold. Did you reserve it?

j, how do you get that? Wf price is 9890.00 with maybe a 2% discount, and the GOG is 10,342.00 with discount....

yes, i did reserve the stone at WF!

and now...i''m confused again :)

on GOG''s website - there is an option to view the sarin report (under the ''diamond reports'' heading)...the sarin report shows multiple ''views'' (agl, igi, ags, etc)...what''s the story with this?

the ags view in this shows ''very good'' vs. ideal...

Not sure, but the grading report says Ideal. Call Jon in the morning with any questions you have, he''ll be more than happy to answer them.

Using the sarin data and that software, very good is the max that is allowed. That diamond is an ideal and would be my pick.

Oops! I wasn''t taking into account the GOG discount. Ignore that then!
