These are so good!

Keep ''em coming, guys!

Haven, are you taking applications for volunteer instructors yet? I''d trade instructional time for learning time and a bunch of these ideas sound fun!

I wish we were at that point, Jet! This thread is definitely getting me pumped to continue working on the business, that''s for sure.

I''ve been carrying a list of possible workshop topics for ten years, yes, you read that right: TEN years. And guess what? You guys have already come up with so many things I never even thought of!

I know. You have said you''re probably a couple years away. Look at all the customers you will have lined up just from PS, though. I''m thinking we could do an annual GTG at the Haven.

A gemology course would be nice. I learn things from here, but it would be nice to play with them and learn too.

I had a couple more ideas in the middle of the night.

-- "trip around the world" each day is a theme country and you can study or just play with literature, music, arts, movies, cuisine, etc. In a week you could really discover a lot of new things and maybe a new love or continued love of travel or a certain country. Obviously this could also be done as a "trip around Europe" or smaller if necessary.

--physical fitness week. Do a different type of workout everyday, meditation, etc. The final day could be an obstacle course or something.

--4 wheeling (obviously the cost of equipment for this would be expensive) I could see a bunch of women having a blast doing 4 wheel trails for a week.

--The last idea, some sort of Survivorman. Learn to pitch a tent or create shelter from what''s available, start a fire, set a trot line, find edible plants, clean fish or anything else and cook it.

I would want to learn Yoga, but in India in an ashram of some sort. Or someone could tie me to a chair so that I finish this darn dissertation.

One place that you might want to look at as an existing model is the John C. Campbell Folk School, link They have all the art classes imaginable offered on week-long or weekend visits. I want to go so badly

Some of the suggestions seem more like life coaching, my district took a bunch of us to VT for a "women''s retreat" to develop future leaders, it was interesting, sort of an applied psychology course but totally data driven (unlike our normal plan of attack.) Can''t think of the name of it, but certification as a Life Coach might be an interesting step for you. Have fun, it is an interesting dream!

Oh! And I'd like to learn to be a better swimmer.
I can stay afloat and move very slowly across a pool (lake, etc) but I can't actually swim any specific stroke. And it's always bothered me.

ETA: Of course, the swimming lessons might have to be preceded by a self-esteem workshop that would help me actually put on the swimsuit.

I would love to learn:

- how to cut and style women''s hair
- play a musical instrument ( I begin piano lessons in Sept- I am teaching my friend to knit (using needles and knitting machine) and crochet
and she is giving me lessons!)

Fun thread Haven!

I''d love to learn...
-to cook
-to speak italian...not sure why, just love the sound of the language
-to style hair
-contemporary dance (i used to take dance but never took contemporary or lyrical and regret it)
-photography...even just the basic point and shoot. i''m horrible.
-editing...already know the basics but for my job it''d be great to learn more
-to drive a stick shift
-anything anyone was willing to teach me patiently!

I think I would choose sailing. It is something that you can do all over the world, and to experience it on all different seas and bodies of water would be incredible!

Will The Haven be near the coast? (I guess this doesn't help since people would learn and then go other places... sorry)
